For me, it was the Barbie my aunt gave me for Christmas when I was about six. I sure loved that doll. I made her clothes when I couldn't get new ones. She came with a stand and wore a black and white stripe swimming suit. Now I have found out some interesting facts about her. She was introduced to the public on March 9, 1959, at an American Toy Fair in New York. Her boyfriend Ken joined her in 1961. They sold for $3 back then which is about $30 in the present day $$. The best-selling Barbie was the Totally Hair Barbie. It was available in 1992 with hair that was easily styled. 10 million dolls were sold.

I remember my Barbie time and really enjoyed it a lot. I have to say that I think Barbies should not be more than $15 since there are also lots of clothes and accessories to buy,

@celticeagle Isabella is five years old, she's beyond the baby dolls and teddy bears. Her mother loved Barbie dolls, this will make Taylor smile, also:)

I never had a Barbie doll. I got a bride doll when I was about 5. My mother took it and kept it in the cedar chest. She would take it out and let me look at it each year. Maybe she was saving it for my wedding day? I will never know.

So you don't have it? I got a big baby doll one year and my grandmother put it up and I don't know what ever happened to it.

@celticeagle No. It's probably a collectible by now. It's new and in the box. My brother probably has it. Or it's been sold.

I asked for a ballerina doll that was more like a statue... that's the year I got the stupid bride doll. I asked for a piano and got one of those plinky toy ones. So, yeah, I don't expect anything "good" either.

@BarBaraPrz Nowadays I don't really want a doll.. Maybe because since I watch annabelle or horror related to dolls, I don't fancy them anymore. But I do still fancy those teddy bears.

Favorite Christmas gift when I was a child? Couldn't tell ya, but I can tell you HATED Christmas gifts when I was a child... a large stuffed monkey in green gingham overalls one year, and a large bride doll with a childlike body (not adult) another year.

@celticeagle And she moves (no batteries), you turn a key hidden in the back and she moves the legs, arms and the head.
