I came across this article in the December 2022 issue of National Geographic Kids. This is about the Arctic Wolves. They broadly belong to the same species as the Gray Wolves. Yet they are specially adapted to the Chilly conditions. Features and Adaptations like :- - Warm, Fluffy tails - Shorter Legs(Lesser exposure to colder air) - Smaller Ears - Two Layers of Fur : Visible Outer plus Dense Undercoat. So, well, Arctic Wolves are adapted to the extreme Arctic Cold in a good way. Aren't Nature's creations so wonderful!! The Image is of the National Geographic Kids 2022 issue with main feature on the Arctic Wolves.

I have not seen arctic wolves. I have seen mountain wolves of Himalayas. May be those wolves would have more fur for bearing the snow.

@sathviksouvik Himalayan Wolves could be similar to the Arctic ones. You saw in Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand?

@sathviksouvik Yes there would be differences also. While checking for Mongpu, I came to know that Mongpu was a favored Summer Retreat for Rabindranath Tagore.

Animals adjust to the climate where they live, this is why we should not bring animals from cold climate to hot countries and vice versa.

@LadyDuck Yes that is not a good practice. I have seen Camels being taken on good distances on the sea coast. Or Cold Weather dogs kept as pets in hot and humid places. Not good practices definitely.

It's good they're bred for the cold Arctic weather.

I've seen videos of these diving headfirst into the snow to get a creature that they think is down there.

@JudyEv They are highly alert and their Family living resembles Humans more than the dogs.

Double layers of fur definitely help the Arctic Wolves to adapt to the cold weather. Nature's creation is indeed amazing.
