Why are we here?

I mean, why are we in school for a partial week right before Christmas, with tons of kids and staff out sick?
Many of the districts around are already out for "winter break" aka--Christmas vacation.
I hear that there is still some crucial testing going on, finals and such at high school level.
I just am feeling a bit lost.
My lead teacher has covid.
There will be a rearrangement of teachers over break. Not a bad thing, just more changes.
I just mentally could not get here yesterday. Here's to a better day today.

I'm surprised school is still in session this close to Christmas, actually. When I was still in school, parents set up vacation for Christmas to go visit relatives in other states... With all the illness being dealt with now, it would make sense to let school out. Don't there have to be a certain number of students actually in school for the school to qualify for the government to pay them for each day?
I hope you enjoy your day at work.

One day last week we had about 20% out. I do not know if they still do the daily federal qualifying count or if they average it out. With so many going on vacation I actually expect people to come back sicker.

@Fleura I don't have any nieces or nephews in school around here anymore, so I don't know their schedules. My youngest nephew is married and living in Hawaii at this time.

Hope you're all straightened out today. I awoke with a mild migraine, due to the low pressure system.

I have a mild headache this afternoon, but I would almost bet it is dehydration.

@BarBaraPrz I am trying to be more conscious of drinking more water. Coffee seems to win out, though.

It doesn't make much sense to have school in session this week but I hope your day isn't too bad.

@Marilynda1225 I am ready for the cold to be done. We really have not had much of it, but it is bothering me this year.

Hopefully you will get recharged during your week off. The schools will probably be closed on Thursday or Friday due to the storm. Stay safe and warm!!

We will actually have about two full weeks off. Of course the weather turned bad as we began our break.

It doesn't seem necesary. Everybody is focused on Christmas anyway, not school.

I know they have packed a lot of unusual things into this week at different grade levels.

It sure sounds exhausting and stressful for you and your co-workers at this point. I'm sure you'll feel relieved when your Christmas break starts.

It is not particularly stressful for me with my student, but many other students seem to be all keyed up.

Yes, I am at work these two and a half days so that my paycheck in February is adequate.
