It's beginning to feel like winter

Hello everyone,
I just got back in after running errands with Kasey. It is frigid outside, low 30s. And we have an artic freeze coming for Christmas. Friday we expect 2-3 inches of rain and then the freeze on Saturday and Sunday which may mean icy road conditions.
Not much news here. We plod along as usual. In early November we went up to North Conway NH and did some shopping and took a steam train ride. It was a nice change of scenery. Then I spent a week with my brother in Vermont, also nice.
My grandson Danny is staying at my house which means I don't have to worry about it, which is good. I have been doing a lot of writing, Danny says my writing is my alcohol, my way to escape, I agree but we all do what we need to do to survive.
We've already had some snow but it is all melted now. I try to keep myself as busy as possible, I drive Chris to work and Kasey picks him up. He has been made the assistant manager which is good for him, his hard work is recognized. Josh has been promoted to assistant manager too at the Dollar General where he works, so also a good worker.
We are making plans for Christmas eve and Christmas day. The boys will be here Christmas eve, Josh and Chris have to work but they will be here when they get out. It is a casual evening, with pizza and snacks. Christmas day it is prime rib and ham. Kasey's mother-in-law will join us and Jason and Jen.
That's about it for me. I have given up going to the Y, it is just too far from here. I am going to have to develop an exercise program for myself. I may need a total shoulder replacement, I am still deciding if it is worth the inconvenience it will cause me.
I hope everyone has a very happy holiday no matter what you celebrate. Happy Hanukkah, and Merry Christmas and if you don't celebrate then I wish you well.

Sounds like a festive time for you. Writing is a good escape. I journaled for many years. It is a very good therapy.
Happy holidays.

Happy holidays to you as well. It isn't always easy to be festive at this time of year but it is family time for sure. I haven't journaled in years, I know I should it helps with grief but I'm not ready for deep thought yet lol

@BelleStarr We did have. We got seven inches with the major storm that hit us and the rest of the country. It's gone now except for some snow piles. We had a record-breaking 51 degrees a couple of days ago.
Yes, I had a wonderful Christmas with my son, his girlfriend, and her father. My grandson showed up for dessert, bearing a beautiful gift.

I also write and read, to get away from the situations of everyday life. My sister had her shoulder operated on, now she's doing real good! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Belle:)

So glad to hear from you! You were missed. Thanks so much for the update. Sounds like you will have a nice Christmas. We are hunkering down for this s**w storm that's coming Thursday and Friday. I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder replacement. I may need one too; but I'm putting off going to get an X-ray. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Don't be such a stranger!!!

I had an MRI that showed severe arthritis, a bone spur, a tear, a cyst, and fluid. lol Is that all I ask? So it is pretty far gone and I feel a lot of weakness in my arm. I hate the thought of surgery but it is affecting my sleep. I did 6 months of PT with no improvement.

@BelleStarr A replacement will make you feel so much better. I had a knee and hip replacement which stopped the pain in those parts. Good luck with the surgery!

I see blue skies in your photo, we do not get alot of that at this time of the year.
Today is the last day of autumn, tomorrow we begin the season of winter.
I love to read about your family and how you are all trudging along as you call it, although I am sure that there is much laughter and fun as you trudge.
Merry Christmas to you and to you lovely family.

@BelleStarr That makes me so relieved to hear that now you can speak of Al and his funny ways.
I know that when we first lose a loved one, it is just too painful to speak of them, our hearts have to heal a bit first and our minds need to realize that they were here but are gone. That can take time, but it sounds like Al's memory is alive and well.
The twins were so busy here on Christmas day. It was fun, but tiring also. They crawl everywhere, and find something-anything, to pull themselves up with. Harper is a climber, so her hands are always over her head to see what she can pull herself higher up. She took a hold of the end of the tablecloth and almost brought that and all of the dishes down. It would have been comical, but sad also.
Your heart must just be so full of sweet memories of your grandchildren as you have so many. In my experience, besides the true love of my life (my hubs) the grands are richest blessings for me.

It’s nice to see you back on Mylot. If you remember you invited me to Mylot after Bubblews closed down. It’s good to see you are doing well. I’m still doing my best but as you know it isn’t easy. But we keep keeping on. I spend a lot of time writing too. It helps keep me sane. Hope you have a good Christmas with family. I hope you don’t have to have the surgery.

Thank you so much, I think of you every time we go down to the cottage in PA. We planned to go to the Christmas market in Bethlehem this year, it is a favorite of ours but Jack had a basketball game and life here got in the way. Merry Christmas to you too.

Looks like you have a very busy schedule ahead. It seems like winter is rearing its ugly head here too. Although I am in Dubuque, Iowa right now on business and off to Milwaukee tomorrow. It should make the travels fun because they are calling for extreme cold and lots of snow. I am hoping to bypass all of it before I arrive back home Thursday night. Wish me luck.
