@sallypup Sometimes I add raw bacon and fry the green beans in the bacon grease instead of using oil. Either way it's delicious.

Fried green beans are pretty easy to make. I do start with a can of green beans, but you can use fresh ones. You just have to boil them until they're tender first. Then you heat up a very small amount of olive oil in a skillet, slice a medium sized onion into the skillet (medium heat), dice a clove of garlic into the pan, dice a bell pepper into the pan with a little salt and pepper. When the onions start going translucent, drain the green beans and add them to the pan. Gently stir them and then reduce the heat. Put the lid on the pan and stir gently every five minutes until the beans start to brown. Serve and eat.

I don't think I've ever made roast beef for Christmas dinner. I have made pork roast, fried chicken, shawarma and lamb but never beef. Thank you.

When I lived on the farm, we had a smoke house. I don't have one now, so have to buy my smoked turkey. There's always room for one more.

@porwest I understand. I loved the smoking house we had on the farm. I don't know that I'd like having to tend a smoker-grill... They take too much work.

@DaddyEvil I got a great deal on a smoker for about $150, and it has room to smoke about 100 pounds of meat. Not that I would ever smoke that much. lol. The only trouble with it is that I have to babysit it, and since smoking takes hours and hours, I don't do it as often as I would if I had one of those automatic pellet smokers.

@arunima25 Pretty eats more vegetarian meals than I do. I like meat. If your family like ham, that's what smoked turkey tastes like to me.

@DaddyEvil They have not tried anything other than chicken, fish and shrimp( my husband likes it). My daughters are allergic to shrimp. They have not tried ham. Maybe they will like it.

We can only buy smoked turkey around Thanksgiving and Christmas. But those are the best holidays, anyway. You can ask Pretty to cook maggots for you. She likes them, too.

A ham can be nice, too. As long as you don't put pineapple on it like mom always did. I hate pineapple cooked into ham. It ruins the flavor. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

It's 28F and cloudy. We had freezing mist all night. The roads are coated with ice. But we're supposed to reach 41F by this afternoon, so Mother Nature will clean up her own mess. Tomorrow at 6 am, we're supposed to start seeing white stuff falling on us.
