It's CCCOOOLLLDDD Out There!

Not that this is news of any kind. The entire country in the United States is stuck in a cold snap, especially the middle of it.
I still have the company truck this morning—and while it has remote start supposedly, I can't get it to work. So, I had to walk my happy butt out there to get it started. And just walking from the garage to the slab where it is parked...
It was blistering cold. Right now the temps are hanging around -7 Fahrenheit (-21.7 Celsius for our Celsius friends). But the "feels like" temperature is about -35 Fahrenheit (-37.2 C) when you account for the wind chill factor.
All this means is that is quite damn cold outside, and if I had my way I'd just stay home to avoid even five minutes of dealing with it.
Oh well. Welcome to winter, I guess.

We are paying for all the mild weather we had. We are s**wed in. We need a plow and someone to shovel the front walk and porch. Hubs thinks he is going to shovel; but he's too old and not physically capable of being out in that cold and wind! Stay warm and safe!

@LindaOHio You'd have saved him.
I could see you now, "It's a good thing you didn't die, because I am going to kill you!"

@RebeccasFarm I am just glad that this little cold snap seems like it will be a short one...for now. There's still plenty of winter left to give us another wallop or two.

My neighbor did not park his car in his garage, and he could have, He went out there to get in the car earlier, and the door handle was frozen. Made him mad, so he gave it a big yank. Yes, of course, it broke off in his hand. He had to send me a message to tell me all about it, not sure just why. He was mad because the other passenger door on the car was also frozen, but he didn't force that one. I asked if he needed to go somewhere. Yes, he said. I wanted to go out for coffee.
So many places here are closed because their employees were having problems getting to work, I'm not sure just where he was going to get the coffee. I told him if he needed coffee, I could make him some, or give him some to make a pot. Oh, no, he has coffee. He just wanted to go somewhere. At the time, the wind chill here was -44. Good grief.

@MarieCoyle It was a pain for a while, but at least when it happened we weren't in this supply chain nightmare we are now, so I was able to get it fixed pretty quickly.

We had that happen when we lived in Montana years ago. Such a hassle as of course it was the driver's door.

Last Christmas we had a record high — 75 degrees. People who griped about that are probably griping about the -31 wind chills, too.
Hi, winter. Get lost.

It’s going to even dip in the low 20s/high teens here in Florida, which might as well be like the -35 you are dealing with for us natives who can’t handle the cold. And to make it even more lovely, my heater in my truck quit working yesterday. Luckily, I’ll be at Disney World for the next 10 days, and we’ll be taking my daughter’s brand new car.

@porwest I made do. I wrapped myself up in a couple of blankets and used a bunch of hand warmers for my feet and hands. Luckily, it’s not something I have to deal with often here in Florida.

We got the milder part of this storm, in Michigan. We didn't get as much snow and bitter cold temps, as some parts of the US. Stay warm and that's not meant to be a joke!
