I came upon this interesting article and thought I would share the info here. My grandson spends a lot of time playing a game called Minecraft so this article made me more interested than I probably would be otherwise.
Did you know that some of the games your kids play have social interaction between players? There are some extremist groups( Proud Boys, QAnon, etc.) that use these platforms to recruit new members. They want them young so they can groom them. Between 60%-80% of kids have reported in surveys that they have been harassed. Here is a list of the more popular games and a percentage of kids that were harassed:
Valorant (80%)
Data 2 (71%)
Fortnite (66%)
Destiny 2 (65%)
DUBG: Battleground (65%)
World of Warcraft (64%)
Call of Duty (63%)
Final Fantasy XIV online (61%)
Grand Theft Auto (60%)
One thing to note here is that in many cases the social interaction option can be removed from many of the games.

My daughter works for Hawaii Gaming Commission. It's her job to play the video games before they come out for sale, play the crap out of the games and then write about them on different sites to whet kids' appetites for the new games.
She also plays different games when she isn't working. She's complained about some of the harassment.

@celticeagle Oops! Sorry about that. I always forget who knows and who doesn't. The moderators on the games she plays always remove people who bother the kids but not all moderators will do that.

@DaddyEvil ........Well, I hope my post helps just one parent to check their kids game experiences so they don't get in to trouble.

That's interesting to know. My son is obsessed with Minecraft. He doesn't play any of the others though.
