Holidays can be hard for many people. Maybe I think too much.

I often wonder when people celebrate Christmas, if they realize there are so many people who simply cannot wait for it to be over. This is something I think many of us realize and pay more attention to as we grow older. I don't think I really knew how many people dreaded Christmas. So, so many are estranged from friends and families--some by their own choice, some by the other's choice, or beliefs, or even misunderstandings or too many years of disappointments. I am seeing this more now than ever before. Picture from Pixabay Maybe some of their situations are fixable. And maybe not. It's not up to me to fix it or to judge them on what they are feeling or doing. I know I am very, very fortunate to be on good terms with all of my children. It's not always easy. We all know that. Life is full of ups and downs, compromises and wishes. We can only hope the path we take through it is the right one, if there even is such a thing. Not sure what I am trying to say with this, except that this time will pass again. Some people want to be alone rather than in a tense situation. Some prefer the tense times to being alone. And some don't have anyone in their lives to spend the holiday with. Not easy situations for any of those scenarios. If we were in normal times and my son wasn't ill, we would try to have a few people over here for a meal to visit, but this year that isn't possible for us. My children and their families will gather sometime later this next week for a time, as weather and activities allow us. So I do have that to look forward to, yes! No matter what your situation, good or bad, I hope when all the hullabaloo is over you can look back and reflect and know that you did the best you could for now. It's really all we can hope to do.

Thank you. "did the best I could." Yes. To add to the mayhem, this is a huge time of eating and drinking. My hubby is having major trouble eating. He ate a few bite of a pot pie that he used to gobble. Both of us did the best we can.

Lenore, I hope he can eat more very soon. That has to be hard to watch him struggle.

It gives me happiness when I host that party for the less privileged and have been doing it for years

We all have to make our own decisions about these situations, and hopefully get through them knowing we did what we could do at this time.

We must try to do our best with what life offers to us. We will be alone my husband and I. This is the third year, we miss to be with friends and relatives, but we will be fine. I wish you a peaceful Christmas.
