How was your Christmas?

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good Christmas and stayed safe and warm!!
We had a blizzard this past weekend but we still had a great time. We had my uncle Russ, uncle John and my moms bf Tim (along with my mom lol) come for dinner on Christmas Eve then Russ and Tim spent the night at my house. They helped us shovel out our side door with got completely snowed in lol
My uncle Russ has been having a hard time recently. This is the first Christmas with out his partner who passed in August. Because of the blizzard he almost didn’t come to my house but I told him I was going to come get him. He didn’t want me on the road. I have a. Equinox with AWD and he has a Chevy truck. Said his truck would handle the roads better lol
Since the passing of his partner, me my daughter and my mom check on him daily and regularly get together with him. He comes to my house every Saturday for dinner game night and lately to spend the night. There are weeks where we will go out to eat with him a few times on top of our Saturday nights. So we see him quite a bit now and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
My daughter has the same close relationship with him that I did when I was super young and I love seeing them together. My uncle was super quiet and closed off but now he’s open, he’s got his sparkle back and rags on everyone that’s at my house.
Anyways while he was at my house, he wanted to talk to me alone. He said he wanted to do something for me, KK and my mom (who lives with me) because of how much we’ve helped him the past few months. He gave me the money for my mortgage for one month. Now I know $750 isn’t a lot of money for a lot of people but that’s a huge chunk to me. I really tried to turn it down but my uncle would not have it. He got very emotional and said that we’ve helped him so much especially on some dark days and he wanted to help us out. How do you turn down a gift like that? I’m going to put the money away in my safe for the time being.

It’s a lot of money for me. I really tried to say no and give it back but he got really emotional and started crying.

@CountryGirl31 Maybe that's the only way for him to repay the kindness, but I'm glad you accepted it. May God blesses his strength to live everyday.

$750 is a lot to me as well. I still want to give it back to him somehow but I know he won’t accept it or he will give it to my daughter to give to me.
I don’t want him to think I’m ungrateful either. It’s a very generous gift for sure!!

What a blessing and a kind Uncle you have.
I had the worst Christmas I have ever experienced..I did not think that was possible.

@CountryGirl31 One day I may be able to share that here, but as of now, I refrain. Thank you though.

Wow, that was super special of your uncle to make that offer to you. And I'm sure it was worth every penny to him to make the offer, because you all have helped him so much during some of his darkest days.

We had a nice Christmas, the roads were clear for driving so we went to my daughter's home. Your Uncle Russ is a wonderful man, he wanted to show his appreciation for all your kindness.

He really is. He has this whole week off so we have seen him every day since Friday. Right now he’s playing Wii with my daughter while I lay down for a nap. I work 6 overnights a week and try to get a 3 hour nap before my shift lol

@kobesbuddy it definitely is. I take care of my nephew who is bed bound and in a ventilator but healthy for 6 nights a week plus I take him to all his dr appts, plus all the appts I have for my household and my uncle has like 3 appts a month I have to take him to. If I’m lucky I can sleep 3 hours at a time. Or get 3 hours after my overnight.
