Random Holiday memory #2,476: What games did you and your family play when you were younger?

Valerie (@Just4Him) played some rummy with her family last night. That got me to thinking about how I never played much rummy, but played other card games as I was growing up.
That got me to thinking about what games I played with my family as I was growing up, and that got me to thinking that I'd better start writing before I think myself into confusion.
When I was a kid, we played mostly Monopoly. My favorite properties were the Oranges and the Yellows. One game of Monopoly and I'd instantly remember how much a hotel on New York Avenue or Marvin Gardens yields as rent. I never wanted to be a slum lord, so Baltic and Med...(I can't spell it!) were not on my radar screen.
We also played some poker (not for real money) and eventually graduated to bridge, both of which I continued to play into my college days (and occasionally after). I only learned Risk later, with other families. Risk can be pretty brutal.
I'd better stop there. Did you and your family (or do you and your current family) have favorite games you'd play, either on Winter evenings or during family Holidays?

@TheHorse I was bad at chess. But then my father played checkers with me.

We played the game of LIFE or Monopoly, when my cousins came for New Year's Eve. Other games I played, solitary or the small square number game, place each number in the right place 1-12.

@TheHorse I always ended up broke as a joke, never had property/hotels (to speak of) and spent time in jail! That game goes on forever, one person cleans house

We used play Monopoly too. But, we also played Chinese checkers. I don't think I ever played Risk.

pinochle, rummy and some others I've forgotten the names of and as for board games I like chess, checkers and sorry among others. It's been so long I probably would have to learn how to play all over again.

We played carrom a lot when I was a young kid and then monopoly. After I hit the teen years, I played a lot of Gin-Rummy. When I had Pretty, she liked Uno and Skip Bo. My friends and I still played Gin-Rummy and Sequence most of the time. And now, I play solitaire when I'm getting bored.

@TheHorse I honestly didn't have "favorite" properties. I usually bought whatever I landed on... I liked owning most of the board.

We had Monopoly but I can't stand it. Vince loves it. I think I'm not enough of a risk-taker to do any good at it. Same with poker. We played rummy sometimes. I'm back to playing euchre and canasta with friends and that's always fun.

My siblings and I would play Monopoly when I was younger. I really like to play trivia games these days, but still enjoy Monopoly. We're also big fans of Apples To Apples around here.
Did you know there is an Oregon Trail card game?

My two brothers and I played a lot of card games and board games. We did not have a TV when we lived over seas.

I can remember it very well that we played hide and seek games and card games. It was such a very interested experience I must say.
