An unusual fan

We had Christmas with our nieces and their family. Our niece has done a lot of work in her house and in the yard and garden. It was all looking really nice. I particularly liked the fans they have in the dining room and lounge. I don’t know what wort of wood they are but they are quite striking. I don’t remember ever seeing similar ones. We need a fan in our bedroom so perhaps I’ll try to find something like this. It was hard to get a good photo as it was turning at the time. Try to ignore the shadows.

Very attractive, and I believe they weigh less than the metal ones. Although it appears elegant, I am unsure how long it will last because wood is not particularly resilient unless the paint is added to make it more resistant to wear.

@JudyEv idunno but wood can be become brittle when they are exposed to moisture especially if you’re in a humid place. It could also be attractive for termites if not properly treated against it.

I think the components that wear would be metal.

Never seen fans with blades of wood. Our renovated church has a single fan that caters to the entire hall - it has huge blades - just two

@LadyDuck I suppose it is. I'm wondering now if it's some sort of plastic made to look like wood.

@JudyEv I looked at a bzillion fans when I was looking for ours. There are fan companies that specialize in very modern fans and there are those that carry a small line of very modern fans. I can help with US companies but I don't know about foreign ones.

The design is quite interesting and very unique, but does this fan provides better air flow because of this design. Does having wood consumes less electricity also? I guess only the owners of these fans can provide an answer to this.

The moving parts are probably metal and maybe the fan isn't really wood but just looks like it. If the blades were wood and heavier then I guess they would take more electricity.
