Grateful and exhausted

Of course I'm weepy at the drop of a pin. And yet I am grateful and amazed at the relationship that we've built with this young person who comes and cleans our house twice a month plus she walks Rufus once a week. Our hired handy person has grown into this side of being our granddaughter. She knew this was a totally crappy day for hubby and me. While Rufus and I went to the bank and grocery store she stayed and cleaned. She took it on herself to do some extras that nobody asked her to. I appreciate her!! She cleaned the cat pan- just whoa there. And just a bit ago I realized she had taken a strand of white Christmas lights and strung them over the double windows in the dining room. Hubby and I had hung the big stained glass piece on one side there. The strand of lights crossing that glass really lifts my spirits. What is easy to do for a 22 year old is hard to do for an going on 70 year old. Those lights may stay up all year. I'm fond of white glowing lights. They raise my gloom and shoo some of it away. Thank you and hugs to all those who sent condolences. I'm emotionally a mess. This is our third parting in this single year. Three farewells in the space of a single year bruises deeply. Thank you for your kindness.

@spiderdust I love the play of light against the stained glass piece. Its reflective even as it draws the color from the glass.

@sallypup Sure! February starts to feel a little more cheerful again with Valentine's Day things, but often January feels bleak. Having some decorative lights up helps.

I'm glad she went the extra mile and brightened up your day with those lights across the dining room windows. I will need to read the post about your loss. My condolences.

Aww she sounds wonderful! I can picture how pretty the lights above that window look. Sometimes just little touches like that look so elegant. I’m glad she made you happy today when you are having such a hard time lately.

You are blessed with a good housekeeper. I know how you must feel. We've lost several dogs over the years; and we still aren't over them. I honestly believe that you will see Annie again some day. She will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
