Happy New Year! It's 2023. Let's hope it's better than 2022! Last night, New Year's Eve, I watched Sam Ryder Rocks New Year on BBC1. It started at 11:30pm then took a break for fireworks from London at 12:00 midnight. After that Sam Ryder continued from about 12:10pm to 12:40pm but I think the London fireworks went on a few minutes longer than billed and so the second part of Sam Ryder was probably more likely to have been from 12:15pm to 12:45pm. Sam Ryder was really good. He sang some of his own songs including Space Man and Somebody and a couple more. I received my Sam Ryder album the day before, on Friday, and I was looking at the list of songs on the back to see which songs he was singing. He also sang some Queen and Elvis, a bit of Stevie Wonder and he sang I Believe In A Thing Called Love with Justin Hawkins from the Darkness! He had a few more guests on aswell including Mel C and a Gospel Choir. I enjoyed it very much. The highlight for me was when he sang Space Man. That sends the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up! Sam Ryder is marvellous! There was another song of his I really liked the lyrics of which partly say something like I'm not that over you yet or something like that. I did check the back of my CD for that one too. The problem with my Sam Ryder CD is that the little booklet that comes with it, with the lyrics printed in, is all over the shop. I think the pages have been printed wrongly and some of the lyrics don't follow on properly. For example one song starts at the bottom of one page and there's only five lines there but then on the opposite page another song starts from the beginning, and the previous song continues a few pages further on and stuff like that. What I'm going to do is write the songs out in order in a notebook and check in the booklet where each bit is so then when I've written them all out in the notebook I'll be able to follow along with them better. And the writing is rather small in the booklet too so I might need a magnifying glass! I've had a great day today too. We had no Church service today so this morning I watched The New Year's Concert from Vienna. They played mainly Strauss. All of them. There's Johann Strauss Sr, Johann Strauss Jr, Josef Srauss and Eduard Strauss. They played tunes from all of them. I think there were only about 2 tunes that they played throughout the whole concert that wasn't by a Strauss! They played the Gypsy Baron and ofcause the Beautiful Blue Danube and my Mum's favourite the Rodetzky March. I hope you are having a Happy New Year. Have a nice day/evening/night wherever you are.
