have you tried key for cash, that is like a data entry kinda job, there you enter alphanumeric, numeric numbers from a script they give you..very easy work..and you don't pay anything..you get paid once a week,if you earn the minimum of $50.00...the only thing is..they have a waiting list right now..till tax season starts..not long from now..
Also, try ACD Direct..this is inbound customer service..there you take pledge calls for tv stations.
Good Luck with your search.

What kind of work are you interested in?
Rule of thumb is you should never have to pay someone else to work for them. If a place is asking you to pay them, they are generally not legit.
If you can write well, there are several venues that pay pretty good for article writers. You can also go to sites that allow you to bid on writing jobs. You don't want to bid lowball though, because working for pennies in the writing industry is just plain unacceptable and it makes it harder for those that produce real quality work to get paid what it's worth.
If you are interested in writing you can join and write articles to submit here:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=2149
Here you can write articles, and even reviews on local businesses you use, and get paid anywhere between $3-$20 per article, depending on quality, and topic of article. Articles should be at least 350 wds or more.
you can also join this bidding site:
http://www.getafreelancer.com/affiliates/JC336/
however, you will find alot of lowball jobs there, be selective.
There is also rentacoder.com, where you can also join and bid on jobs.

Perhaps you could become a foster parent, I know in my state it pays from 1000.00 to 1500.00 a month or more.
You could sell things on eBay? Amazon? You could also start your own online business?
I think you should decide what it is you want to do and see if you can do it from home. Most people are happier if they are doing something they enjoy or believe in.
I will not sell products unless I like them and believe in them, it is easier to sell those things you use and like.
I am doing some bookkeeping once or twice a month for a company from home and I don't like numbers, so I am looking for something else to supplement that income so I can stop doing it. I procrastinate in doing the work because I do not like numbers or paperwork and it has both.
So again, sit down think about what it is you like and what it is you think you would like to do from or at home and then look for those type of jobs or businesses or create the job.
Good luck with your work at home journey.

You can also check out he website http://www.WAHM.com
It is very resourceful, lots of websites of legitimate work from home businesses. Also, http://www.craiglsit.org
Just look for your city and look in the ECT section or PART TIME, but do your research here, lots of scammers here, but real jobs too!
