Friendship how to retain?

The requirements that I look for in a friend is....trust, I'm going to have to be able to trust someone that I am going to be sharing so much of myself with. Respect, they need to respect me and my family. Compassion, it's hard for me to be friends with someone that has no compassion or regards to other peoples feelings. Fun, of course, if your friends, you are going to be doing things together, so you are going to want to be able to enjoy that person. As far as retaining a friendship, I think one of the main things is to treat your friend the way you want to be treated. I know it sounds cliche, but I believe it to be true. I think it's important for your friend to know that you care about them and that you are there for them. I also think it's extremely important to be there through the tough times, not just the good.
