Do you know about Chinese New Year?

Next Sunday is the Chinese New Year,it's the most important festival in China.In Chinese Lunar Calender,there are 12 years as a cycle,each year is named by one of 12 animals.It's the Year of the Rabbit in 2023 After 3-year Lockdown,people are tired of the darkness under the threat of the pandemic.Now new year is coming,they all wish the best and hope the resuscitation in every part of the life. There are much custom in the Chinese New Year,that's a totally different world,an exotic and ancient cultural carnival 1,Chinese will eat the fish in the Chinese New Year,it means"Every year has the fish"(Similar Pronunciation:Every year has enough money to spend.) 2,Chinese will put up a portrait on the door,this portrait is the"God of the Door".It's said that this god can protect you whole year 3,Chinese will stay together and eat the sweet dumplings,it means the whole families will have a renion 4,At the midnight,Chinese will light the fireworks to celebrate the New Year.In legend,the sound of the fireworks can scare the monster which called "Nian" away and get the blessing from the God. 5,the day before Chinese New year,people will stay up all night,it called"Vigil" 6,When Children visit the relatives,the relatives will give children "Yasui Money".You can think it's Special bonus to the children to celebrate the New Year 7,The temples are very busy when the New Year is coming,people will go to the temple and burn the Buddhist Incense to pray for a beautiful future. 8,Surely,Chinese will buy many gifts to present to the relatives and friends.So 1 month before the Chinese New year,the markets and gift shops are very busy,they can earn much money. 9,New year means a new start,so Chinese people will clean the whole house and spray the perfume to make it look like a fairyland. 10.Chinese will paste Spring Poems at two sides of the door,these poems are written with the Chinese Writing Brush.It is entrusted with the most precious expectations. Surely.there are much interested custom and things in the Chinese New Year.And as the society grows up,more modern and popular elements are implanted,it makes the Chinese New Year get more vivid and lively. I am Japanese (New Year's is celebrated January 1) but our family does our own little celebration of Chinese New Year. I learned more about the customs in your post here .

Yes, I'm familiar with it. And, it's quite interesting. I tend to celebrate New Years on January 1, but respect other cultures. It should be noted that Chinese New Year, isn't strictly reserved for China, but rather is observed in many Asian countries, with their adaptations and traditions.

I knew about the Chinese New Year and I know that this year is the year of the Rabbit, I think wood Rabbit. I was born in a year of Metal Rabbit. Thanks for sharing your traditions for the New Year.

Chinese new year is very popular here. They have a parade in Chinatown. A lot of visitors go to this parade and new years celebration
