Do 12 step programs work

Most of the time the people who go to those meetings are doing it.because someone is making them (normally a judge) i mean it’s pretty much this or prison. Like a child holding its homework we await turning in our cards for a signature to prove you showed up. You probably weren’t listening, but you showed up. As soon as they got their hours they’re back to where they were before they got caught with $600 worth of cocaine? No one wants to go to prison, so they tell the judge and the judge says ok. These people didn’t want to get clean in the first place. But there are also people who went voluntarily. They decided their life was out of control and were saved by the 12 steps program. There are stories of people who went into the program and stayed clean until they died. That does happen. What about the ones who are clean for decades and then one day they really need that drink. Something will happen and all bets are off (or in some cases bets back on) and you think “what’s the point now” and start all over again?

No twelve step program is going to make anyone better if they don't want to get better.
