One of my granddaughters is graduating high school. She lives in Ohio. She wants to come to Arizona to attend college. So in June, I am going to Ohio. Her parents are packing a small U-haul truck with her belongings. I will drive the truck and my granddaughter back here to Arizona. My granddaughter will stay with me while going to college and while working once she finds a job. It will be nice to spend time with this granddaughter. Last time I saw her it was a few years ago and only for a weekend. Before that, she was a baby. I look forward to getting to know her.
She will also get to know me other than the stories she has been told over her lifetime. I am sure she will want to ride on the back of my motorcycle. That will be a shared event that will be special for both of us. I will get to show her my home/state by riding through the desert and mountains. I will get to tell her the stories I was told when I was a child.
I will be doing something my father called "passing the knowledge of the ages to the jewels of my sunset".
I spend a lot of time with two of my grandchildren. They are little. It is fun to see the world through their eyes. Today, my 4-year grandson told me he will be happy when he gets married. lol He does not even have a girlfriend. But, we did discuss that if he gets married, he will have to share things like his car, bike, TV, closet, house, etc. He was not too keen about having to share things.
My oldest granddaughter is now 25 years old. She has a job, an apartment, a boyfriend and a vehicle. My youngest granddaughter is about 1 year old.
Out of 17 grandchildren, each conversation has to be personalized to each one. You can't have the same conversation with everyone of them because they understand things at different age levels.
How many grand kids do you have? Do you get to spend time with them? What kind of conversations do you have with them?

Congrats on having 17 grandchildren!
It's wonderful that your new college student granddaughter will be your housemate soon. I think it will be a sweet life experience for both of you!
I have four granddaughters, ages 10, 6, 6 and 4. I got a grandson 4 months ago! They all live locally and I'm so grateful.
