Went to the movies with my mom yesterday to see A Man Called Otto based on the Swedish novel by Fredrik Backman A Man Called Ove. I read the book, though it was a Russian translation that was gifted to me by my mom's friend. Planning on reading the English one.
A Man Called Otto was a great movie and I really enjoyed it. I loved Tom Hanks in his role as Otto. His son, Truman Hanks, actually played the younger version of Otto in the movie. It was a feel-good movie, funny, and moving too. I almost cried at one point. Glad I went to see it.
We went to a new movie theatre close to my house. I wanted to use the restroom before the movie. As I started walking in to what I thought was the restroom I saw a sign that said Urinals. Turned back around as I realized it meant a man's restroom. Never saw a sign like that before.
There was no sign for a woman's restroom, so went to a family restroom. After the movie I had to go to the restroom again and this time went to a restroom that said Commodes, whatever that means. When I went in there it said All Gender Neutral. It wasn't a small room with one toilet. It was a restroom with many stalls on either side. Does that mean men share this restroom with women? Not a fan of that if that's the case.

Glad you enjoyed the movie. I got interested in it when @GreatMartin wrote his review here. Now that you have seen it I am going to try to catch it if I can somewhere online, That is so amusing about the restrooms, You should have seen my face the first time I wound up in Europe and there were signs for Water Closet. I got curious and looked up Commode and online it says a toilet in North America but this is the first time I have heard it called that,

@lovebuglena I have no idea who but it is common or was common in Europe and here is a further meaning,
Define water-closet. Water-closet as a noun means A room or booth containing a toilet and often a washbowl..

@RasmaSandra Well, I've learned a new word. Now if I hear/see that word I will know what it means.

Water Closet? Wonder who came up with that name.
This reminded me of a time when I was in Italy and I really had to go to the restroom. There were no public ones where I was so I had to go to a cafe. But restrooms there were for customers only so I had to get a cappuccino just to use the restroom.

Restrooms aren't what they used to be, that's for sure. I guess it's a nightmare for the authorities too, trying to decide what to install and what to call them.

@lovebuglena I agree totally but people nowdays would argue what about all those who don't know what they are/don't identify with male and female. It's just crazy.

If you have a restroom that is a small room with one toilet it can be for anyone. But if you have a restroom with many stalls in it it should be either just for men or just for women. Women and men should not be in the same restroom at the same time.

@JudyEv if you’re not male or female then what are you? There is no other than male or female.

Thanks for the critique of the movie. I was wondering if it was worth seeing. This gender stuff in the restrooms is getting out of hand. Ridiculous.

I think it's worth seeing. Turns out Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson produced it. I did not know that until I saw the credits.

@LindaOHio And she sings one of the songs featured in the movie. I didn't know she sings.

A perfectly lovely day and movie with Mother you had Lena, only to be bombarded with the gender crap. So sorry my friend.

It's weird and messed up to me to have a restroom with stalls be all gender neutral. Women should not be going to the same restroom that men are using.

Can't say the day was all great. Mom ruined it for me with some stuff she said.
