I'm paying for it

Coincidance? Maybe. I know about how substances like malitol can affect a person. Sugar is the big demon and for sure can cause health issues. I wanted ice cream that hubby could eat and hey! a pint of ice cream that appeared to be safe as far as side effects go. Over 6 dollars for the little container of chocolate ice cream and peanut butter but maybe try it anyway??
Funky sweet and salty peanut butter chunks is what I got when I tried a spoonful.
AND I woke last night with a huge ball of pain in my gut. One spoonful and that with just artificial sweeteners. Made me super thirsty, too.
So I am battling a funky gut this morning. I took a Tums. I am hopeful that this gut pain will go away sooner than later. Hubby ate a smaller spoonful and said the ice cream was sickly sweet. NO keto treats for us again. Now what will I do with the mostly full pint of nastiness?

Put it in the trash and hope you never run into anything like that again.
Some artificial sweeteners make me have an allergic reaction. Even though sugar is bad for me, I won't eat or drink artificial sweeteners.

@DaddyEvil Great idea. Somebody said to be sure the cats don't get near it cause the E ingredient in it that I can't pronounce could harm the cats.

@sallypup So can the chocolate. Do you mean erythritol? All of those "tol" words can and do cause gas and bloating.

I haven't heard of somebody suffering from stomach. trouble due to artificial sweetener though most said they're unhealthy. It could be caused by the ice cream and peanut butter.

Artificial sweeteners and sugar substitutes can cause stomach pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea.

I hope you're feeling better today. That's a lot of money for a pint of ice cream that you didn't get to eat. Some of those artificial sweeteners can be trouble

@sallypup I feel so bad that it affected you like it did. Good thing you didn't eat more of it than you did

@Marilynda1225 Thanks and I agree. I am slowly coming out of what feels like this side of food poisoning.

Real sugar is less damaging than that stuff. Maybe you could come up with something better on your own. I have read instructions for making your own ice cream in a zip loc baggie or in an old fashioned coffee can. Real cream, honey or maple syrup to sweeten. Cocoa powder for chocolate. 6 dollars is a lesson, but further stomach ache would not make it cheaper.

One time in Walmart I got really hungry and grabbed a package of cookies to snack on. I ate half the package. They were sugar free. I got so sick. I looked up the ingredients later and I want to say it was maltodextrin and when eaten more then a few cookies can give people stomach upset.

If sweet doesn't suit your gut, you should avoid it.

I have tried Keto ice cream. I thought it was sickeningly sweet, like eating spoonfuls of sugar. I am sorry it hurt your guts...some foods just do that to me.

That is too bad. I bought some keto meal replacement bars. They seem OK.

Such a disappointment to try a new thing and it's even worse than you thought it could be.
