Meanwhile, here’s a song to dance to…quite literally! #4: Cheek to Cheek - Fred Astaire One of my absolute favorite scenes in the TV series Brothers was when Lou, quarantined with Donald in Donald’s apartment because Lou had chicken pox and Donald had never had it, helped Donald fold a sheet while they were singing this song. But there is also the original, with the immortal Fred Astaire, and that goes back to the second time the Best Original Song Oscar was given!! That’s right, we’re back in the mid-30s, when talkies were young and elegance was popular. Look at Astaire in this clip!!! Oh, could that man dance. He sang pretty well, too, as this song shows. The song lost to “Lullaby of Broadway,” which is another good song. But I’d take this one all day, every day!
