When I start listening to music.

I am a shower singer. Not so much now because there´s something in my voice thaat maybe the covid or the years brought. But as I live alone, I don´t mind so much singing with my aphonic voice.
And in the shower something strange happens. My mind opens to other moments and other places and out of nowhere I find myself singing a song that I learned at Camp when I was 12. II think I never sang it afterwards.
I got dressed and came to see how intelligent the web was. I wrote the first 4 words and there it was.
The Noah song ( I thought it was a song written by someone at camp)
It was there!
And one thing led to another (Burl Ives and The lollipop tree). I had to listen to that too and then read his biography. I then learned that he had first befriended Pete Seeger and then they parted as foes.
Pete Seeger is an imporatant part of my youth. I just spent a long hour with him, happy to know that he did not change with age.
How I wish that the world had more people like him.
Do you like music? This music?

They are both part of my life. Ives when I was a child and Pete Seeger as a young woman.

I used to sing in the shower when I was young and living home with my parents. I never do anymore. I think it’s due to always showering after everyone goes to bed I have to be quiet. I do hear my husband sing in the shower often though and I remember hearing it is extremely common for people to sing in the shower.

@marguicha how long ago did your husband die? As long as I can recall back on here I don’t remember you being married.

@marguicha it’s so much harder when people die young I think. You think about all the things they miss out on which is a lot!

I sang in the shower when my husband was alive. He did not mind. I thought he liked it. Now I sing because I live alone in my house.

I like mostly Rock and roll, classic rock. It sure does bring back odd memories. Burl Ives was great I remember one of his songs especially fondly and it was something about a sunshine on my shoulder Good tunes.

I like the music that has lyrics (when it is children´s music, folklore or rock). As for clasic, the instruments have a way of talking to my soul.

@LadyDuck My all time favorite is Beethoven, but depending on my mood I also listen to Mozart, Bach and Chopin. At other times I prefer more modern music such as Carl Orff.

@marguicha Me either. I can't see the music of today being popular in 20 or 30 years.

Both attended to some places where left wing people got together. When the US government started to chase communists, they got Ives who told them that he had only gone once with Seeger to see what it all was about. Pete Seeger did not forgive him. In those days, people would lose their jobs if they were "suspected" of having any thing to do with the reds. I have the idea that in many parts of the US, any person who could be called left wing is still a sort of Satan.

I didn't like rap music, but I like everything else. A few days ago I had a song stuck in my head for a few days. It drove me crazy.

Burl Ives is buried close to where I used to live. There is a Burl Ives bridge...people there are proud of him being from there.
I am not a shower singer, but I drive so much, I can tell you I am a car singer. I don't even care if people think I'm weird, I love driving to good music.

I learned by heart many of Burl Ives songs But the one whose link I placed here is just a children´s song. Burl Ives sang The lollipop tree though.
