A friend has gone missing

Certain kinds of things always seem to happen to ‘other people’ – well now something has happened to us.
A friend has gone missing.
He’s not a close friend, but someone I know through volunteering at the monthly ceilidhs as he’s also a regular volunteer. We saw him at several folk music events too, and I used to regularly bump into him around the village and stop for a chat. He’s also the grandfather of one of the youngsters in the village amateur dramatics group. I haven’t seen him since before Christmas though, he wasn’t at the ceilidh in January.
Now he has just disappeared.
He was last seen in the local shop on Sunday January 22nd. Since then his family have not been able to contact him. His car is still outside his house, and apparently his phone and keys and wallet are still at home too.
In these days of video doorbells and CCTV all over the place it’s difficult to just disappear. It’s making me think he may be somewhere quite close and we just haven’t been able to find him. I’ve certainly been keeping a lookout everywhere I go but I don’t know what else to do!

I'm guessing the family have checked any outbuildings on his property and put up fliers around town?

Oh yes there are posters around the place, notices on the village facebook page (with requests to share further afield) and on the folk music page, they contacted all his usual haunts (pubs etc.), yesterday it was in the local newspaper and the regional police have a notice about him.
He lives in an ordinary semi-detached house with a small garden and a garage, so there aren't an awful lot of places there he could be. I assume they have searched the house and garden! I did have a look round myself on the way past yesterday but the gate to the back garden was locked.

@DaddyEvil He was finally found on the 17th February in Lincoln (about 140 miles away) and is reportedly now home although I haven't seen him.

The fact that he left his car, phone, and keys and wallet is very concerning, surely he cannot be very far from there if he left on his own. I hope he is found soon.

Most people take their ID/wallet, whatever when they leave the house. And nowadays, the phone goes everywhere as well.

That is terrible! I sure hope he is found. I watch a show on the ID channel about people who go missing without a trace. The majority of the cases appear to be voluntary, or there was a complicating factor like they hit their head in a car accident and were dazed and confused. I saw a case yesterday, and looked for updates on it. I really hope your friend is OK.

@Fleura We have also many paths here around and people walk there every day. Last month someone has lost balance and fell into a small ravine full of bushes. He was hurt and it took days before they could find him. This is why I think that a dog could follow his trace.
