Sorry I’m late. The wi-fi at the hotel was so choppy I decided to wait until lunch. And it’s now state parks 6, Chuy’s 4! Greetings from Tarpon Springs. As for theme songs, here’s one that’ll make your head spin. Welcome to Monday! Happy Days - Pratt & McClain Truett Pratt and Jerry McClain were a one-hit wonder, and this is it. Now, that isn’t what’ll make your head spin. What will is the show itself. For the first two seasons they used the Bill Haley & the Comets song “Rock Around the Clock,” but I guess lawyers got involved, so starting with the third season they switched to this song. Is it any wonder Happy Days invented “jumping the shark” with that kind of confusion?? Happy Days Written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox Recorded by Pratt & McClain From Happy Days, seasons 3-11, 1974-1984 Saturday, what a day:

I grew up watching Happy Days, and now I’ve got the song stuck in my head! Did you visit the world famous sponge docks in Tarpon Springs?

@moffittjc — you’d better believe it! And I added osprey and eagles to the list of things I’ve seen this trip.

The 70s was a good time for TV themes (as you’ll see as the countdown goes along).

Always loved the show and the song. But my biggest favorite that put a smile on my face with Richie walking down the stairs - I found my thrill ...

It lost something when it became “Fonzie and Friends.” I liked it better as the ensemble. Oh, I got to meet Donny Most (Ralph Malph) at Fuzzy’s charity golf tournament one year!!

Yes, it was the first couple of seasons before they switched. It was “silly,” but still sweetly nostalgic.

It was 50s American nostalgia. I really don’t know how that translates to other countries. I’d hate to think you’d watch that show and go, “Americans did THAT in the 1950s?????”

@FourWalls During that era, Australia was flat out trying to emulate anything American. We thought you were all the ants' pants - in a manner of speaking.

Ahh, Americana at its finest. Girls, rods, burgers and more girls! That show was really special until Fonzie's Evel Knievel impression over the sharks It was like an American Graffiti plot every week.

And to think it started on Love, American Style a year BEFORE American Graffiti. Both had Ron Howard, though!

What I want to know about Happy Days is where is Chuck buried? I enjoyed the show but thought it went from fun and nostalgic to ridiculous and campy as Fonzie's popularity rose and Richie became a de facto supporting character.

I agree. Same with Good Times when it went from being an ensemble cast to the Jimmie Walker show. Happy Days jumped the shark long before Fonzie did.

They should have had the lawyers fed to the sharks, but the sharks wouldn’t have eaten them. Professional courtesy, you know.

@FourWalls It's just as well because it prevented a lawsuit from the ASPCA for cruelty to sharks.
