Oh my aching everything. I’ve walked “too much”? Twenty five miles on this vacation, which is usually a month’s walking. I’ll take it easy for today (and see if I can find a spa/massage place). You’re not getting by without a theme song. Sing along!!
Mister Ed - Jay Livingston
HARRY: How could you lose a body? A corpse is a corpse!
DAN: (in Mister Ed voice) Of course! Of course!
(The original Night Court)
We know this one, don’t we. Even if we didn’t watch the show. Francis (“With an I”) the Talking Mule’s buddy Mister Ed was created by children’s author Walter R. Brooks in 1937. That inspired the Francis movies and, of course, the TV series.
Mister Ed was a saddlebred/Arabian mix, real name Bamboo Harvester, who was voiced by Allan “Rocky” Lane.
And the theme song was one of those great themes of a fun, innocent-era sitcom.
Mister Ed
Written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans
Recorded by Jay Livingston
From Mister Ed, 1961-66

It was a fun show, typical of the “suspend reality” programs of the 60s.

Another one I looked forward to watching and listening to when I got home from school.

Now this song is running through my head and I do remember this show very well. We certainly had some classics when I was growing up.

And no one can talk to a horse of course. It was a dumb concept; but I do believe I remember watching that show.

Dumb enough for, what ten “Francis the Talking Mule” movies too?

@FourWalls I think I watched those too. Entertainment in those days was at a premium.

Oh, there’s an apparent reason: it’s catchy!

I remember it but not real well. That one was a little before me. And not on tv regular when I got older

I understand. Plus, who wants to watch a talking horse?

Absolutely loved that horse and the theme song, I believe it was Mister Ed that instilled in me my love of horses, Still in my mind without even listening to the video - a horse is a horse of course of course unless he's the famous Mister Ed, Made me want a rocking horse but being in an apartment mom did not want me to ride the vases from the shelves and break them

Sometimes I think it was a spoof of westerns, where a man’s best friend was his horse.

Although I’ve seen clips of Mr. Ed over the years, I’ve never seen a full episode of the show. It was a little before my time, although there were re-runs on air during my formative years.

Horse talks to Wilbur and nobody else. Creates chaotic situations. One of the many “suspend reality” shows, but it was fun.

The Francis films ruined me, because it wasn’t until I was an adult that I could appreciate Donald O’Connor dancing and not talking to a horse.
