A dessert to die for

We went out to dinner last night at our friend’s place. There were five of us. Our hostess leaves in a week on a cruise down the west coast of South America then to the Falklands, on to Antarctica finally ending up in Barcelona. Naturally, she is looking forward to her trip.
She enjoys cooking and we had a marvellous meal, equal to any restaurant. But it was the dessert which really had us oohing and aahing. As you can see in the photo, we had ice-cream sprinkled with hazelnuts. We poured black coffee and Frangelico (a liquor) over the ice-cream. It was served with I-don’t-know-what. Maybe biscotti? It wasn’t really a wafer but whatever – the whole dish was beautifully presented as well as being delicious.

It sounds really yummy. Does it have a name or was it just a home made creation?

She made you ruin the ice cream with coffee? I'm so sorry that happened...
It does LOOK beautiful, though.

Combining ice creams with anything else is quite trendy these days I have always liked ice cream with gulab jamun. I also poured fig syrup on the ice cream not so long ago. But never heard of coffee being poured on the ice cream.

They do have coffee-flavoured ice-cream but this was hot coffee poured on.

That sounds like a wonderful dessert. That is quite a trip she is taking. It can be a bit hazardous too.
