Why Didn't I Do This Months Ago

Happy Friday Everyone! it's a beautiful sunny day here today and the temperatures are supposed to be springlike.
I have a monthly bill that I pay through my bank. However, it's one of those bills that the bank has to send a check and it isn't immediately processed through my account. I've noticed that in the past months that the check is always cashed after the due date even when I schedule it to pay in plenty of time. So, I don't know if it's the mail that takes so long or if it just sits on someones desk before it gets cashed.
Either way I'm tired of it being late.
So, yesterday I called and spoke to a very nice person in customer service and we set up a recurring payment right through their site.
My payment will be deducted automatically each month and I don't have to deal with all this late stuff anymore.
One less thing to worry about and I can't help but wonder why I didn't do this months ago. Shaking my own head at myself

Makes me wonder why I procrastinate on things like this. It's such a relief not to have to worry about it now

If you were getting charged late fees, I would charge those back to the bank for their tardy practices. I'm glad you got it worked out.

@Marilynda1225 Oh, I see... I can understand how that would be annoying.

No I wasn't getting charged late fees. It was just that it took so long for the check to clear the bank that it was annoying

I would have questioned being considered "late." A lot of the time the date on the check and at least a postmark if it is mailed is enough to support it wasn't late.
Either way, I am glad you were able to find resolution and get it worked out.

I wasn't getting charged late fees but it was just frustrating that it took so long for the money to disappear from my bank account.

@Marilynda1225 Ah. Makes sense. I think I ran into something similar. In fact, the storage rent comes to mind. I send the payment via Bill Pay from my checking account and because it sends a physical check it takes longer for it to process and it was late a couple of times even though the date stamp was before the due date. I just send the checks sooner now.

I think we all do that from time to time. You right. I shake my head at myself at times. Least you have one less thing to worry about.

Yes, automatic withdrawal is a good way to make sure your bills are paid on time. Works best for your budget when it's a fixed charge each month.

That’s good they have that option available. I like that but my husband doesn’t.

Sometimes you do wonder about the things to do. Some of us have that experience on a daily basis.. Glad the payment should run smoother now for you.

I feel so dumb for not doing it sooner. I do 99% of my banking online through my bank and only until Covid the payments seemed slower for this payment. Now it's just gotten ridiculous. It's just one of those things I knew I should do but kept putting off

We now have our credit card through our bank. I make the payment as soon as I get the bill. They can't complain that it's late because it's paid directly through the bank!!! I'm glad you solved your late problem.

I do auto bank transfer for my electricity and gas bills. I'm afraid I forget to make payment and they cut my electricity and gas supply.
