Salute to the Heroes

On 6th February, earthquakes in Turkey and Syria caused widespread devastation. Thousands of people have lost their lives and millions are homeless. Since then, I have been looking at video after video of relief efforts in Turkey and Syria and I feel that we cannot thank the rescue teams enough.. working around the clock, with or without machinery, at times with bare hands, all the time putting their own lives at risk, being so gentle and encouraging to those still trapped, rescuing babies and toddlers, shifting the dead bodies, how brave and selfless are these men and women!! It is great to see rescue teams from all over the world coming to help but I wish we can all come together for a far more peaceful world without natural disasters having to remind us how fragile life is. In spite of all progress and development, we have not been able to defeat poverty, hunger, disease or war.
