Lips And...Well...

There are times in life when you run into certain people that you never forget, for whatever reason. Take Carol. I forget what her last name was, and even if I could remember what it was, I probably wouldn't share it. She was a "hard" woman, probably in her late 30s or early 40s, but looking at her you kind of knew she had had a bit of hard life. She wasn't made of money and her biggest dream was to "finally get that double-wide." If she told you she was 50 you would not have fallen down, shocked. That's a trailer for anyone wondering. A mobile home. And I mean no harm when I mention that nor do I make any assumptions as to her character, worth, or anything else for being that kind of woman. But again, she was hard. Or maybe hardened is the word I am looking for. It was at Kraft Foods, where I worked at the time. The Kraft Pizza Company to be exact, where we made DiGiorno's, Jack's, and Tombstone. In the break room we had pizza ovens of course. All the "duds" and "rejects" made their way to the break room freezer. We could cook them up on our breaks and enjoy free of charge. But you get sick of pizza, of course. So, they also had a Gedunk machine in the break room. Nobody called it that but me. And I am not even sure if I spelled it right. I am a Navy guy and that's what we called "snack machines." Gedunk machines. In there were sandwiches and stuff. Hamburgers and chicken sandwiches and whatever else. Carol would stand before the machine and say, "What kind of lips and a$$holes do I want today?" To her it was all mystery meat disguised as familiar meat. Snouts, toes, eyeballs...and yes lips and a$$holes. Every time she said it, it gave us all a laugh. And it just never got old. Because that was Carol, standing before the gedunk machine, trying to decide what to get. Trying to pick out what lips and a$$holes she wanted on any particular day when she was not cooking up a pizza. Some people you encounter in life you just never forget. She may have been hard. She may have had a hard life. But she is someone that also made an impression. You never forget about people like that. I don't know where she is now. Kraft sold the pizza division and that plant is long gone. But wherever she is, perhaps she is in another place, scanning the gedunk machine, with new faces and new ears in her surroundings, picking out her lips and a$$holes during her break.

Lips and a**holes is what is inside regular hotdogs. Have you met my friend @DevMrSamEleazar? He likes to tell me when he and his family are eating "maggots" with "lips and buttholes". (Rice and hotdogs.)

@porwest He's back in school so doesn't have time to post very often. He's only online normally for about an hour after he gets home from school if he doesn't have homework. He's really funny...

My mother told my sister the very same ingredients were in hot dogs when we were young girls. Like what kind of sadistic parent would do that? She never served them to us but I had some over the years--Sabrett's were my favorite. But her words always were in my mind. One day I was slicing up Italian sausage for the crock pot and I looked at it. . . and was like NOPE. I haven't had hot dogs or sausage since. One day I hope to get a meat grinder so I can make my own sausage.

I remember not eating hot dogs for a while too after being told how they were made. But I grew up, and that's not to say anyone hasn't. I just learned that food is edible for a reason, and sometimes things that don't sound good or look good are still good and worth eating.

I am sure she is. She may have had a hard life but she was also quite giddy. Trying to see the brighter side whenever she could I guess.

It was like the old Super Dave Osborne bits. He was a "comic" stuntman always finding disaster, and the commentator would always say that he had some special safety equipment made from "genine Saskatchewan seal skin bindings," which was a funny joke considering Saskatchewan was landlocked and there were no seals anywhere near it. lol No matter how many times it was said, it got a laugh.

Are you speaking of ground up chicken parts. I don't eat meat but I know Chick Fillet sells that type of chicken.

Anything really. lol. A hamburger, a chicken sandwich, bologna...anything coming out of the veding machine was suspect as to what it actually was.

I had a friend we were in the 6th grade. Kids would talk about one another some would get mad. Some would want to fight. But her name was Alma, no matter how they would talk about her, she would laugh just as hard as everyone else. I never forgot her for that. Never met anyone else who did that.

There was a guy who used to come to my window when I ran one of the ship's stores when I was in the navy and ask for puppy peters. They were Vienna sausages. lol

You are so right. People will frequently come and go in our lives, but there is inevitably someone who will stand out and we remember for the rest of our lives, even if we weren't close or even friends with those people. I have a few people like that I can look back on and remember very vividly.

Simply put, lips are those things on your face that you talk with and a$$holes, spelled differently because I have to, is where your poop comes out of. I thought it would be self explanatory, yet here we are.
