I dont know his real NAME but I guess from MAGAZINE I came to know that his family got converted into muslim religion at 1980's.

his actual name is A S dileep kumar....after some incident he changed his name to Alla Rakha rahman...

Well i too agree with the above persons but i think they missed to tell that A.R.Rehman went to the Sufi saint when his sister was ill and doctors had lost hope. Then the saint asked him to convert to Islam if He(the Sufi) cures his sister and he agreed. He then converted to Islam. And, I did not just copy-paste it from somewhere. I remember reading this in some interview of his in some magazine.
