i can't believe seatbelts aren't required. the safety of children is most important and we adults or the ones driving the bus are responsible to make sure that the children are safe. safety belts save lives everyday!! on a school bus there is no difference.

They should absolutely have seat belts, and it should be a rule that the bus driver has to make sure all children are buckled up properly. I realize this would take a lot of time, but isn't it worth it? Maybe they could have some kind of lights on their dashboard to let them know who isn't buckled, like a seat number or something. This will cost money, and of course that is what it will all come down to. Maybe they could hire bus-aides to check the kids, but again that will cost money. I think they should make sure our children are safe. I mean it is a law to wear seatbelts where I am from, and that means, it should also apply to school buses. They are carrying our most precious children.

Yes school buses should definately have seat belts. it is very dangerous for those children to be up jumping around. They should be belted in unless the bus is stopped.

that's really a back and forth question. I have seen studies they have done to see what would happen in a crash if they did have seat belts, and it really looked worse than without them. I agree that something must be done, too many kids are getting hurt in buses, but I think the problem lies with the design of the buses...if they could redesign them to allow SAFE seat belts, i think that would be better

yes i remember riding and i do think its a good idea and they should have shoulder straps too when a bus is rolled over the children suffer more injury without seatbelts

Seat belts are good for everyone because accident are so common, now a days in every second atleast 1 accident take place. So its better to be on the safe side. In school buses belts are a must and i think gov. shud make a law that there should be safety belts on every seat. School buses are usually opt by small children. We cant play with their life & also those parent whos kids travels in school buses should check these important things. Now a days schools dont cares for students they are only interested in making money. Its parents & gov. duty to take step against any carelesness

I do not feel that seatbelts should be in school buses, I drive a school bus and I could not imagine heaven forbid anything bad happen while I am on my daily run but if it ever did it would be pure hell trying to get 50 plus kids out of seatbelts, if kids would only understand the importance of sitting on the bus properly that would help out alot, but for some reason some students feel the need to be standing up and fooling around. As much as we all would love to think that we would not panic in some sort of way should anything happen we would, and so would those students and then trying to focus on getting a seat belt off well that would just cause more problems...
