#Calnotworking

Today, my warehouse guy brought in an empty parts bin, and look what he found inside! Egads, and yes! This little guy was very much alive! And quite so. Being that the boss was out on a little day business trip I sent the picture to our group text the three of us in the office use for regular communications and asked, "Does anyone know what the part number for this is?" He responded with the hashtag, "#Calnotworking." If anyone is unaware, Cal is our warehouse cat. Yes, he eats mice. Often. There are many corn fields outside our building in the area and so mice are ubiquitous and Cal gets his share of "extra meals." But this one seemed to have gotten past him. Bad Cal. NAUGHTY! I do have at least a small heart, and I took this little guy outside and set him free. But I did tell Cal that if he wants to earn his keep around here, he needs to be on top of critters in the warehouse. I am not sure if he quite understood my ultimatum. He looked at me, as cats will often do, with a coked head as if to say, "go screw yourself." I guess he can't catch them all, and this one was pretty resourceful to hide in a bin where Cal was not able to find him.

He lives another day, hopefully. You should defiantly show a picture of the cat.

He did actually come in with one later in the day. I suspect it was a different one otherwise that mouse in the bin had a very unlucky day. lol

@RubyHawk I am really hopeful the mouse he ate later was not the same mouse. I was really hoping I did a good deed for the one in the bin. lol

Oh my gosh how adorable. That could be quite starling moving a bin and being surprised by that.

Yes. Without a doubt. You don't expect your parts to be alive and moving. lol

Wow, so the little mouse gets a second chance at life. I hope he counts his blessings, he may not be so lucky next time he tries to sneak into the warehouse.

No. I fear not. Cal is usually pretty good at catching critters. He brings in moles, voles, mice, frogs...you name it. I think he even once brought in our UPS guy, but we made him let him go.

@LindaOHio Those stink bugs are resilient. We even get them sometimes in the winter just showing up out of nowhere.

There are probably a million of them in the cornfields out there. He's one lucky mouse.

Egads is just a "slang" term for "oh my God," or "yuck" or "give me a break," among other expressions. It depends on the context, but that's generally how it is used.

@porwest Sorry, I'm not used to slang terms or languages. I know we do have our own slang terms but I am not using them.

My 2 cats at the house back in the day were exterminators of mice, chipmunks, and some birds. My Cosmo girl actually took down a squirrel once. My ex would have to go through the back yard before mowing the lawn to collect all of the corpses. Ill never forget watching my heart cat who was like 13 or 14 years old at the time hop the fence back INTO our backyard with a chipmunk in his mouth. He happily trotted across the yard and right up to the back door with it in his mouth. I opened the door, he dropped it, and it took off since it was still alive. Hilarious but I loved that he was bringing me a gift.

These days, Cal's hunting days are long gone. He's no longer the warehouse cat and is now an inside cat, as all our cats have always been.
