Is Ritalin ok for kids?

As a child I was diagnosed with ADHD. I was on everything from Ritalin to Dexidrine. Since the age of 4 I had been bounced around from therapist to therapist trying to figure out what was wrong with me. In my teens this ADHD subsided and I was fine. Several years later it turned into depression and anxiety. I realize now that the reason I was ADHD was because it was my way of crying out for attention from my mother who at that time always regarded me as a nuissance to her life and showed little attention to me. Now because of the negative attention I recieved as a child and still not being able to get close to my mom, along with some things I have going on presently in my life, I am a manic depressive. I would just like to know others thoughts on this.
