A bit about bananas

Bananas are a staple food in our household They are taken after every meal. We have choices and our choice is Kadoli - some call them butter bananas which have a thin skin and remain fresh for a few days.
There are several other varieties and we have grown them in our property - some of them are kavandish, nendra, thick skinned and vegetable bananas. Kavandish are green in colour even when they are ripe The trees are small and the bunch sometimes grows bigger than the size of the tree and so farmers dig a pit for the bunch to stay in place.
Nendra are those bananas that are used to make banana chips when they are unripe. I have been successful in making chips, They are easy to make - thinner the better.
The best way to buy bananas is to get them when they are still green. What you see in the photo were green yesterday and they will be ready for consumption tomorrow.

@allknowing - I imagine the stores do not put on the shelves those still green. They have all interest to sell those that are almost ready to eat.

There is no reason why you cannot have varieties. The method to grow is the same for all varieties
