I discovered that rice is now my staple food. My country is still burning.

I went to the kitchen for something to eat and although I have several ingredients, I wanted rice.
So rice it was. While the water was put to boil, I fried the rice with crushed garlic, salt and more oil than my mother´s recipe. After that I threw into the pot the boiling water (I say "threw" because lately I have found out that it is easier to just add the water from the kettle and later on add another cup). Before that, the first cup sauteed on my skin and now I have to protect it. My skin now is much too thin
Now the rice is simmering. The TV is telling me about the floods in the north and the forest fires here and a little south of where I live. And I´m now mylotting. I am relaxed and nothing hinders me from being fine. When the rice is cooked I probably will just eat some with nothing on the side although I have a steak and eggs. There´s nothing as delicious as the smell of rice fried with crushed garlic!!
When I listen to the news and hear that most of those fires have been intentionally started, I discover in myself the ancient savage. I would not be lenient with them. I´d rot them in jail. It is the same feeling I have when I hear about evil people that abuse of children.
People are still being burned by the fires. Would you use the words "human rights" to give lesser punishments to the culprits of strting the fires?

Somw are insane, some are evil and some think that in order to have their political views heard they have to destroy.

@marguicha I haven't heard of any in Australia doing it to get back at the government. I hope that idea doesn't catch on.

I always have a kilo of rice, pasta, potatoes and onions. I don´t buy lots of anything but I like to have a little of everything.

Well, so many bad things happening around us.
May God help those affected.
Human beings' actions towards the nature are now hitting back.
Are there anyone worthy of "human rights protection" ?
Well anyways, while I am not very find of rice dishes, sometimes I do like Rice Pulao with curd, or Kidney Beans(Rajma in Hindi)with Rice (also popular in Brazil) and Rice with Legumes sometimes.
Rice is almost a daily staple in many parts of India like Eastern, some of the Southern and other parts.
Were Wheat and Barley the more common staples in Chile earlier?

I don´t understand when human rights mean protecting evil people instead of protecting the mayority from them.

@marguicha Some people have gone nuts trying to protect everything. Some need treated the way they treated others

The arsonists should definitely be punished to the extent of the law. I hope they can get the fires under control.

It has been very difficult because of the heat, the drought and the lack of rain.

Let the law handle this. Do the culprits hide behind the law or or do they get away with it?

All I can say about those who would set these fires and endanger people, animals, and nature all around should be strung up and let them choke on all the smoke until all the fires can be put out completely,
