I used to know them as cigarette lighters. Cigarette smokers kept one such lighter in their pocket and lit a cigarette by striking fire with them. They had a style in the process. They pulled out a cigarette from a paper' box. They usually caught the cigarette between their lips. They struck a fire near the cigarette with their right hand and shielded it with their left palm and fingers. They sucked the smoke and blew it off with a relish. You may have seen some actors puffing out smoky rings with style. Thank God, though I found the show rather impressive I never got in the habit of smoking. Multiple choices are available around here, i.e.cigar, cigarette, churoot, bidi but they never attracted me. Still, I keep one of these lighters in my reach. In the morning when I warm water, milk or make my cup of tea I light the stove with such a cigarette lighter. During the day it comes handy many times. In the evening I light the candles and incense sticks at the altar with its fire. Though match sticks are available as well but I have found match boxes cost more in the long run. Whatever posturing the powers up there may make about trade with China, our markets are flooded with uncountable useful goods from our northern neighbor. The smart phone in my palm at this very moment is a "Made in China" product. These lighters are their gifts too. I'm curious what do you call these lighters?

arson torches. well, at least in my town. trash bins, hay bales, vacant buildings are a few of the things that have been set ablaze with those little tools of financial destrucion to the local economy.

@Plethos That's how we humans are. It can be used as a tool of arson at the hand of a destructive person.

@franxav - i see it as an individual situation. "humans" tome is too vague and already makes or considers everyone an arsonist. ive known people who've never really used a lighter excpt for candles or fireworks.
