Beans, and rice

These are two economical staples that we are using today. I wanted to use Bob's grandma's recipe for baked beans, except I am using a crock pot. While doing those beans up, I cooked enough to add to three bean salad, a cold dish. While making the crock pot meal, I was to drain it--well the liquid had some onions and some ham in it, so it had a tasty flavor. I used it to cook up some rice. We added sausages to the rice and will have that as a part of a meal. The weather is nice here, right now, but it is supposed to be awful by tomorrow evening. I would love to have a snow day or two. We would be all cozy and well fed. So, from cooking a pound or a little more of white beans I am able to make three meals. I also have some tomatoes and greens to make salad and we will likely have baked apples this evening too.
