As the song says, everyone knows it’s windy! At least it’s 70 degrees here, not in the sub-zero area with snow that people in Minnesota are dealing with. While the wind blows outside it’ll blow in another song on my list of top ten television theme song favorites. Here’s today’s song.
#7: Theme From Mission: Impossible - Lalo Schifrin
Theme songs to television programs used to make a statement. Case in point: this one. One listen to that theme song and you instantly know what kind of program this was, even if you’ve never seen it before.
I’ll take this opportunity to make a typical overaged schoolgirl comment: Phil Morris, the son of series star Greg Morris, is gorgeous.
Even if I didn’t understand the show, it was regular viewing in our house when I was little. The theme song I completely understood.

Hard to remember the three channel days like that. There was no network affiliate, or the weather was bad and the reception wouldn’t come in.

@FourWalls There was no network affiliate. Wilmington was still a remote small city then. I grew up missing all the great CBS shows of the 70s on their initial airing. We didn't get cable until 1978-79.

I always loved the opening scene, where Jim got the tape and the assignment.

How clever of you to sneak in TWO song references in this post!
When I was little, I used to think the song said "Wendy", not "Windy".

I never watched a complete episode of that show, but I do remember that great theme song and the opening very well. Definitely a worthy addition to this countdown
Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it... Never got past the opening, perhaps I was watching another spy program "Get Smart" at the time

The tape never self-destructed Jim’s nose the way the doors did on Agent 86!

I need to check to see if they ever pitted this show against Peter Graves’ brother’s show (Gunsmoke). That would have been mean.

It was way over my head as a kid, with all the espionage stuff. Did love that theme.
