Be your own physician

Greetings all,
I wasn't going to say anything for a bit. But I really do need support right now.
This is an update on momma.
For those of you that are new to this journey , my momma has had multiple surgeries and treatments for colorectal cancer. In 1986 she had cervical cancer, and then in 2013 it was discovered she had colorectal.
Each time she surprises the medical community with her brilliance and her strength and her downright resolve.
So, this summer it was discovered that some of the tiny spots on her liver were getting bigger. They attempted to treat them radioactively - which only partially worked. Then they wanted to switch to chemo.
This sort of chemo has been a stronger one than what she's used to. I noticed that after several rounds of it a pattern developed. She would feel bad from the chemo, then a secondary infection would set in, then she would go to the hospital, they would give her a break from chemo - during which she bounces right back, then back on the chemo and there we go again.
Well, after the most recent hospitalization on Valentine's Day - now they tell her that they have no more options for her and to go on hospice.
Uhm. EXCUSE ME?
If I could get by with it I would be using A LOT stronger language.
The crooked medical community here worded it as though there were a lot more disease in her body and that the chemo wasn't working anymore. After a day of feeling bad... things started to not line up. They have no images and no right to say either of those things.
We checked this out with her original physician - not the local idiots - and this is correct.
My mom's original doctor for this is an hour away, she just recently has been being seen closer to home due to travel ease but I guess that is a big mistake.
Mom's original physician will see her and said that she agreed that hospice sounds like an innappropriate choice right now.
Sometimes you gotta be your own physician. Get 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinions. Stick by your truth no matter what.
My momma is the strongest and most bad "a" person I know. She had a couple sad days, but now she's fighting mad. She's fine, she's not giving up and she feels good. She isn't going to give up, and she doesn't accept the notion of a shorter anything.
She is my hero
Here is an AI generated photo of my momma as a punk rocker. Her real style is little sweaters and pearls but I think this suits her.

You are so right. Unfortunately the system is set up so that sick people are a big business. One must advocate for one's own self. Thank you for prayers friend. They work wonders.

How is your mother doing at this moment? I don’t see that you have posted an update since this so I hope she is keeping up that fight. I know you’re definitely fighting along side her no matter what part of the journey she is in.
I totally agree that often you have to be your own medical advocate. No one is going to care more than you care. And quite frankly, sometimes I think we all just become bodies to those in the medical field. I don’t want to paint everyone with the same broad brush because I do have a couple of great physicians, but I have certainly had some major stinkers too.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like there was something rather dastardly going on and with your dear mother's health too is almost too much to fathom. I understand. I can't believe that they mislead her to think it was more dire than it is. I'm beyond words angry.

I love that kick A photo of our VickiClubVicki. She has a strong spirit and determination to prove all those so-called experts wrong. You're her best advocate and God is there with you both.

@FayeHazel I'm doing ok I guess, praising God that the lung surgery showed no cancer. Cough is awful, but expected after that kind of surgery. I start chemo next Monday...dreading that. Love to you and our VickiClubVicki.

@1creekgirl We are both so happy for you. You continue to stay in prayers. I can only imagine how bad coughing must feel. I think you are wise to do the chemo. I used to think all chemo was horrible on people but they make forms of it that are tolerable for folks now. Most of mom's has been tolerable for her. . God be with you as you heal.
