My neighbor who now lives in Houston texas never fails to send us something despite the distance.
This morning my sister in law told me that somebody was looking for me and when I went down to check I saw my elementary classmate and handed me a can of cocktail peanuts telling me it's from Tonet our former neighbor who now lives in America. He is such a sweet guy, he never forgets sending us something. There was a time when he sent us red envelop with a 500 peso bill or some 10 dollars .

Actually I used to like only boiled peanuts where I can eat it directly from the shell, but now I also love roasted peanuts. I don't like the one covered with some sweet stuff.

He's indeed a wonderful guy. What kind of nuts do you prefer? Other kind of nuts are expensive here like almonds, pistachio.

A good and caring neighbour!
I think you had a good rapport with your former neighbour.
Else not many act like this.
We do like peanuts more in the winters.
More of the plain ones rather than any flavored ones.
Have a nice Saturday.

I hope that you have a nice Birthday bash.
I once had peanuts named as Wasabi peanuts and they were salty in a strange way.
Never liked them!
Plain salted are still fine.

I hope you're having a great weekend. I am attending my cousin's 75th.bday bash. I don't like flavored peanuts too. My mother and m6 neighbour's mother were closed but that is not the reason why we are close its just that Tonet is a nice man.

I will eat peanuts but would rather have pecans or cashews.
That's very nice of your old neighbor to send you things from the US. Postage from the US to the Philippines is very expensive. That's why I just send cash via PayPal to friends there. It's less expensive for me and my friends can buy whatever they want that way.

@florelway When Pretty was in college, I often got a fixed-rate box from the Post Office here and filled it with home made foods, cans of her favorite foods, candy and small toys for her just to fill every corner of the box... She told me later that she and her friends in the dorm couldn't wait for the boxes from me to arrive.

I think he bought a balikbayan. box and filled it up with items and the freight cost is. lesser. My cousin regularly sends her mom items from US mostly household items using these balikbayan box.

That's so thoughtful of him. My Filipino neighbor's father works in the USA for 9 months, and returns to the Philippines to give everyone in his family and friends money. He's been doing this for the last few years, except during covid.
Oh, yes! I love peanuts!!!!

Most Filipinos think working in the USA is very lucrative and they expect that they share in the blessing. Some of my relatives live in the US, when they come home to visit the Philippines they give presents for Christmas and some cash.

@florelway I do like peanuts, but not ones that you have break open. They were sometimes hard to open and they were too salty.

Maybe you have one too just yet to be discovered. Tonet the neighbor I mentioned was actually new to our neighborhood because they live in the city most of the time and only during vacation time when they visit our place.

We also use peanuts on some of our dishes like vegetables rolls, and some oxtail recipes.
