Started with a tea set and now a tea mug

When we just got married I wanted everything in style - every nook and corner of our tiny flat smacked of style be it the bedroom, the hall, the dining, the kitchen the works Everything looked classy. When we shifted here and lived in this big house it was more or less the same - everything has a classy look. The classy look is still there but we have cut down on the dinner sets and tea sets. Now it is the tea bags and mugs. We have decided to go simple, what with problems getting maids, et al. The cupboards are full and they are all languishing. What's your story? Image Credit:

I have the good tea cups with my fine English china, but we never use them. I have 3 sets of Christmas mugs which match my Christmas china, those are used every year. Of course on a regular basis, we have several coffee cups that we use exclusively on a day to day basis. They become favorites because of the handles and the amount of coffee that they hold.

@allknowing When my parents were both alive my hubby and I used to host most of the big family gatherings and we did use all of our good china, and then as my Dad's health began to fail I got a beautiful set of Christmas china so that we could host brunch. That was more of a come and go affair, like an open house, and the dishes were used well for about a decade. We still use them but for a smaller guest list.

We have more than we need. I have three tea sets and we do not drink tea, I have four coffee sets, we use all the time the two same cups with saucer. Two years ago I asked to the charity to send here someone and I donated several dinner sets, pots and pans, two chandeliers and several towels and table clothes. I am trying to scale down.

As I just commented elsewhere this is a global malaise. Loads of tea sets, dinner sets, coffee sets, et al but not used. (lol)

@allknowing I wonder why we bought when we already had several received as a wedding gift. I never break things.

I don't think I've ever been 'classy'. I've always been a country girl at heart.

You have beautiful tea sets. We also have tea sets but today we seldom will use them. Since today we don't often drink tea at home. And we don't often have guests.

I still have the tea-sets my mother inherited from her mother! A wedding gift with twelve cups, saucers, and tea plates, a tea-pot, hot water jug, sugar bowl, milk jug, and slops bowl. I don't think these things were ever used and we hardly ever use them now either!

I have so many silver tea sets and other sets that I have collected on our trips. I have way too much of everything, but won't get rid of the things I love. They will be passed on when I am gone. The kids can do what they want with them.
