Salary Disaster

It was payday yesterday but I am not happy at all. I don't have high salary to begin with but my payslip indicated that they deducted £900 pounds from me as unpaid sick leave. I have only been sick for a day so I was sure it was an error. Also they didn't pay me any overtime. Last month they only paid me overtime partial and I was expecting them this month.
So I wrote a lengthy email to HR. Saying I need it rectified as my bills won't wait for my pay. They did say they will pay me back as there was a processing error on my sick date causing such deductions. I am not sure if that's right. And also upon investigation they owed me 40 hours of overtime pay. I hope they managed to pay me by next week so I can pay my bills on time.
Some of my colleagues has the same issues too. And apparently this happens pretty often. Tsk, tsk.

@flapiz Depending on the software they use, they might be able to catch big boo boo's like that by doing a type of audit that can be set up to isolate obvious mis keys.
Its easy enough to do, add a zero, put a decimal in the wrong place.
I'm pretty sure whomever made the mistake is very upset with themselves.

That is really sad, I hope they make good on it.

Those are not the kinds of errors that can be accepted.

@flapiz If they did not pay well to several people they should have noticed.

@marguicha Yeah and it shouldn't keep on happening as well. Last month I was not paid right but I did not notice much until we have recalculated now.

I hope they get the pay figured out but, if this happens often, maybe you should file a complaint with whoever oversees such things there. Here is would be the labor board. And the company would be fined if they made such mistakes very often.
Good luck!

@DaddyEvil I am now more vigilant with my pay after this experience.

@flapiz *shrug* Yeah, I understand. If this isn't the first time they've done that, I wonder how many people never got compensated for all the work they did? Will you be one of them that never receives your full compensation?

That seems quite problematic and that sort of thing would never fly here in the United States. Too many laws and rules to prevent it, and steep fines and penalties for companies that don't do it right.
I hope you get it all worked out. But this might be a sign to look for a new job again.

Oops looks like it is not only a machine problem but the processor maybe at fault here. I think when processing payroll the processor should be meticulous with the details and double check it carefully. It becomes complicated when there are adjustments to be made on the next pay runs.

I know they seem to lack meticulousness and I suffer for it. They promised it early this week. I really hope they fulfil their promise.
