Our little ice princess seems to love all sports and activities. The photo shows her scuba diving and skiing 3 weeks later.
I think it all began when she was enrolled in Mommy and Me, story hour, music, art, swim classes and baby gymnastics when she was less than 6 months old.
Following that was ballet, ice skating, fishing, skiing, figure skating, pottery making, synchronized skating, tap dancing, horseback riding, archery, water skiing, boating, tubing, rock climbing, piano lessons, live theater, travel, Broadway shows, amusement parks, singing , museums, libraries, summer camp, foreign languages, American Sign Language, etc., and now crew.
She’s made friends from all her activities, and being 14 years old, loves to go shopping with them and is into clothes, perfumes, jewelry, lotions and potions, and a voracious reader just like me!
We credit her parents for providing all this for her and her brother. Certainly, hubs and I don’t have the genes or inclination to do all that.
We are proud of her and her brother for their sports, activities, and academic accomplishments, but the best thing of all was that she called yesterday to tell me she loves and misses us. We spoke on the phone for 50 minutes
Gotta love being grandparents! The only bummer is that now the kids are too busy to see us often enough even when we are up north.
Off for my tennis game. See you when I return and pardon the collage. I’m not even good at making those!

Wow, those are some really lucky kids. Of course as teens they'll be more occupied with friends rather than parents or grandparents. Is the ice princess already interested in boys?
I figure your grandson is still not ready for girls or is he.
Boy, I'm so nosey, you know you don't have to answer those questions

@rebelann The kids are very protective of one another, but he's only in middle school and she's in high school. I think her parents trained her pretty well. We will just have to wait and see. Most of the kids these days don't date. They go out in groups.

Oh, wow! Too many activities for me, too. I've done some of those but would be worn out trying to do all of them.
Hope you enjoy your tennis game. See you later.

You have a lot to be proud of and it must have been wonderful to have such a nice conversation with your granddaughter. They grow up so fast and as much as we love learning about their social lives, school work, etc it's hard to adjust to their busy schedules and not see or hear from them as often as we'd like.
My grandkids are aways busy too but I do love when they take the time to say hi and that they miss me

Love the collage. The ice princess is blessed to have parents that can provide all of those activities for her. It's nice that she called to talk to you. Hope you enjoyed your tennis game. Played any pickleball recently?

Thank you. I couldn't fit everything in.
The kids are lucky, but a close friend called them privileged in a derogatory way. We are no longer friends. She also told me our other friend had a horse face, and told her she hated my haircut after telling me how nice it was. I can go on and on. What a friend.
Tennis was fun. We all went out for brunch. Here, you have to do things early in the morning before it gets too hot. No pickle ball recently. Too much going on.

@LindaOHio We are all happy she's out of the picture now. When another friend passed away, she was so disappointed that she wasn't left anything in her will
Pickle ball is lots of fun. It's very popular now.

@DianneN Talk about rude!!! I'm glad you dropped her as a friend. Watched a celebrity pickleball tournament a few weeks ago. I'm sure it was a first for a lot of viewers. Interesting game.

It is great the kids have had exposure to all that. She sounds like a nice kid too, which is really the most important thing. Raising a good human being is something really to be proud of.

Her mom taught her and her brother the importance of giving back. Since they were toddlers, they started donating toys, stuffed animals, and outgrown clothes to the needy. Many thanks. So far, they are kind, sweet, thoughtful, and generous. I hope they always will be.

I don't think there's anything they don't do from your list of activities. Oh wait, can they draw, or paint? You don't have those activities listed.
They are definitely well-rounded in everything they do.
Yes, that's the downside of being a grandparent. I found that out when my grandkids became teenagers. They no longer wanted to hang with Grandma.

My mother wouldn’t let me do anything that she thought was too dangerous. I wanted to take tap dancing lessons, but she thought it wasn’t a good idea for when I grew up. She said that no one ever tap dances at a dinner party
That phone call meant so much to me

Wow that was really early for her to be enrolled in all those activities . Sounds like her mommy absolutely loved being a mommy!
Aww that is sad they are so busy they don’t have time to see you. I remember in my mid teens wanting to spend time with my friends instead of my grad parents. That’s something I wish I could go back on.

Her mommy still loves being a mommy and is more proud of the kids than I am - if that’s humanly possible
Their sports hog up there after school hours and their entire weekends. Hubs and I have to make dates to see them when they are both home at the same time. Not easy. They did spend two weekends at my house due to hockey games being held in Connecticut and one we were able to drive to nearby just for the game. Then off they went to a boxing match in NYC. Story of my life, but I relish every moment when we are together. Soon they may choose their friends over us

Be proud of the fact that she is extremely well-rounded and enjoys numerous activities that don’t involve sitting on the couch playing video games.
