Yes, it DID snow on Mt. Diablo the other day!

I heard that there was snow all around San Francisco Bay Area the other day. It was cold and rainy here at my house, but it sounds like the snowline was at only a few hundred feet. There was even snow on the smaller hills between my house and Berkeley, where the University of California is located. Here is my photo of the snow yesterday or the day before. It's raining again now, but it cleared up long enough for me to snap this not-very-artistic shot before the next front moved in.

What strange weather it is. Even LA saw snow on the Hollywood Sign & the Grapevine is closed.

Ah, I wonder what elevation those things are at. I was on the Grapevine a couple of years ago.

My son flew into LAX on Saturday and wound up riding with his friend across the San Gabriel Mountains in a snowstorm to get home. He sent photos of the scenes along the road.

I wonder if they had chains or 4WD. I usually have a 4WD, even living in the Bay Area. But now I have a 2WD truck. I probably would' test the snow right now.

@TheHorse You would expect to see that on the mountains.

@kaylachan Yeppes. We drive up there once in awhile to visit "real snow." It's pretty. And not TOO cold in California.

Yes, but we don't get much in the Bay Area (too near to the ocean). The High Sierra mountains get big time snow.

The snow covered mountain looks gorgeous. I hope the snow didn't cause so much trouble roadwise.

@TheHorse Well all for the best as well. Snow is great only for a short while but is quite problematic in the long run.

It has in Southern California. And in the taller mountains too here, I'm sure. But the Bay Area is mostly too close to the Pacific and too low in elevation to get snow.

Nice picture. We are having crazy weather here. It is still Winter but the temperatures have been like late Spring for the past couple of weeks.

@TheHorse I remember getting an ice storm and snow in March here in Georgia. It doesn't happen often but I would not be surprised if we get a snow event next month.

Do you think you'll get another freeze there at night? When I visit Atlanta in the Winter, the same clothes I wear here are appropriate.

Glad to see the snow where it's supposed to be: on top of mountains. It's been sunny here all day and, while not too warm yet, the sun did do some snow melting.

Yes, I heard that the snowline was very low; and even Hollywood saw a few flakes. Have a great week.

Yes. Most of us come from or travel to other places. My Winter coat is good down to 10 degrees F or so.

Is it unusual to get snow in your region of CA? I mostly know about the San Diego/LA areas and I can't recall hearing about snow in those parts.

Now you just got to hope that no more snow piles up since with the global warming an avalanche can occur,
