Wow, what an ugly night in Oklahoma. I hope our myLotters there are okay. The damage in Norman and OKC was pretty extensive. There’s a tornado watch north of us (and north of the Grouchy Old Man), but it’s busy already with a tornado in Champagne-Urbana Illinois. To take your mind off the weather here’s another great television series theme song. #2: The Rockford Files - Mike Post This should come as no surprise to you, considering that Jim Rockford was one of the top ten favorite TV show characters of all time. This was also a pretty big hit in 1975 (as in, released as a single and top ten stuff). Mike Post has a list of TV credits as long as your arm (or as long as King Kong’s arm, actually). In addition to this Grammy-winning theme, he picked up a Grammy for the theme to Hill Street Blues, and also did the music for shows ranging from The White Knight to Quantum Leap to Magnum PI. He also produced albums by acts such as Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers & the First Edition. And The Rockford Files is a series as iconic as its theme. James Garner was simply spectacular as private eye Jim Rockford in a show that had healthy doses of comedy (the opening message on his answering machine) mixed in with the drama.
