That was a real punch in the gut, or should I say the heart?

I had written about a friend of mine before on here who moved to Florida with he ailing hubby, and promptly fell off the map. Anyway, I finally heard back from her daughter who I had sent a message on FB a few weeks ago. The friend JoEllen is dead... . I guess it is better to know, but I kind of wish I had not gone looking. J. was a very special person, maybe the kindest person I have ever known, at least in the top 3. As her daughter said, she was one of a kind. There go my hopes of a reunion. That may truly be the worst thing about getting older...losing people in your life you loved, or had a bond with. I am not sure I can take much more of this...so many friends just in the past few years. Have you lost people from your life in the past few years. I have lost about 5 people in the past 5 years..at least 5.

I lost so many during the worst of the pandemic. Family and friends alike. Then last summer, I lost a very good friend, we were friends since early childhood. We were planning a get together for the fall. It hurt terribly to lose her, she was a very close friend.
It is very hard. I am sorry about your friend JoEllen. I try to console myself with memories, no, it's not as good as the real thing but it does help me.

Pain to think of.

All we can really do now is to hold them in our memories. I know it's hard.

Yes, it does. But we heal a bit, and the memories are special then.

I'm sorry your friend is gone.
Yeah, five brothers and one sister have passed away in the last two years... Some to Covid and some to old age or ailments. I agree, it's hard to lose someone you love or had a bond with...

Sorry for all that loss. I have had some go, but not too many. As you say, it goes with aging.

Thanks, I think always tell people how much they mean to you, because you may not see them again.
