The farmers in Bengal are involved in growing potatoes, brinjals, rice, cauliflower in the farms. Along with that are involved in livestock farming. They rear cows, goats, chicken and sell their produce for side business. Milk of cows, goats, buffaloes and eggs of chicken have good sale and wide market in India.

@RubyHawk Oh, I know... The differences are that emus aren't as tall as ostriches, emus have fluffier feathers and lay blue-green eggs.

@sathviksouvik Thank you. Emu and ostrich meat isn't popular with most Americans, either... From what I've read, a lot of the meat is used as pet food and the skin is the part people here want for shoes/boots.

thanks DE they sell the eggs at the moment. Reason is if the emu is killed then produce has also gone. Besides emu meat is not popular in the villages in India

You're right. If one got infected, it will spread to the entire farm.

That's a good way to increase productivity and earnings. It could also lower or stabilize the prices in the market of commodities that are abundant. Does every family have a certain amount of livestock? Back in the rural area where I have lived before, each family had chickens. and some had even pigs together with the chickens in their backyards.

@sathviksouvik Absolutely Souvikji. It needs some kind of dedication and love for animals. People here treat cows as their family member.
