The photo shows a soft cover book The Mystery Dog from the Wilds which is a Schoolgirls’ Own Library book. These books were first published in 1922 and ran till 1940.
Seven hundred and thirty-three paperback books were published but the series became a casualty of wartime paper shortages. The books were published by The Amalgamated Press, Fleetway House, Farringdon Street, London. A further 410 issues were published between October 1946 and September 1963.
The book was my sister’s who is eight years older than me. It is number 151 and cost 1/-. Researching the series, I saw a number of covers that I remember seeing in our house from days gone by. There was also a Schoolgirls’ Own weekly paper. I’m sure these books would have been very popular in their time.
Interestingly, they are still available for purchase from several outlets.

@JudyEv I don’t have any. When I left my ex he burned all my books. And I haven’t replaced them yet. I had a copy of mastering the art of French cooking by Julia child that took me forever to get.

It is interesting to research things like that. I have early edition Beatrix Potter books that belonged to my former mother in law and her sisters...in the 20's. Too bad it is'n't a full set, it would probably actually be worth something.

That seems to be an interesting series of books. I remember reading all the Littel House on the Prairie series which was also interesting,
