Robot performing a knee replacement surgery

My friend in the UK just had a surgery replacing one of her knees and that was performed by a Robot
No doubt the doctor in charge was indeed there but to trust a Robot is not something I would want.
I felt it was pretty impersonal although one gets that done with anesthesia. She posted a few pictures with bandage and without and we could see the stitches - a huge area seems to have been operated upon. At the moment she roams around on crutches and the doctor assured her that all will be well in 6 weeks.
Would you trust a Robot?

That is a common concern I am sure and I called my friend courageous but she corrected me and said it was necessary She knows best why she chose this mode

@allknowing I know that robots are now necessary for specific surgeries. I hope not to need surgeries, my grandmothers never had surgeries.

Did she get a choice about having a robot work on her? I hope its only stitches that have to come out and not staples like my poor Mom endured. I wonder if the robot is more sterile than a human doctor? Did a human nurse work with the robot? I'm not quite ready for this.

I had to go back to read her message. She has had 22 staples. I am not sure if she had a choice and if so then she opted for this I guess. The nurse gave her a tight compression stocking which the doctor promptly changed perhaps pulling up the nurse for it.

@sallypup Today is her 9th day I think. I am not sure when the staples will be removed. She is having pain even without the staples removal process.

@allknowing My Mom said the worst part of her knee replacement was when the doc took the staples out. She said she cried it hurt so terribly.

Robots lack the human intuition and instinct that doctors have developed through years of experience and training. They may not be able to assess a patient's condition accurately or consider all relevant factors in making a diagnosis or determining a treatment.

This is not the only thing patients experience. These days everything is done through machines Gone are the days when doctors examined patients physically

@stapllotik Honestly I miss that touch that doctors had in those good old days.

@allknowing Imagine the scenario, where all hospital staff is replaced with artificial intelligence. Dr. Robots would operate on you and housekeeping robots would clean your waste and nurse the patient.

I would rather live with a broken knee than have it replaced by a Robot (lol)

On one hand that sounds amazing that a robot can perform such a surgery but on the other hand I think I would trust a doctor more, Would a robot be able to react quickly if something started to go wrong?

No, I won't trust a robot doing surgery for me. During the surgery, anything can happen. Wonder how a robot will react in an emergency situation.
