Favorite Songs That Use Weapons or Violence in the Title- 6 Let's continue this music weapons songlist with some more "stones and a couple of rocks." That should make for a "rockin' playlist!" Hope you enjoy these musical "chestnuts" enough to "etch them in stone." 1. "Heart of Stone"- The Rolling Stones -Singer Mick Jagger is a heartbreaker with the ladies, but in this song he met his match with this girl. He says she can't break his heart, but he does not seem very convincing in the lyrics. This was a Top Twenty tune in 1965 with written contributions from all members. Do you have a favorite Rolling Stones song? 2. "Stoned Soul Picnic"- 5th Dimension -You might remember this singing group from there other hit "Up-Up and Away" but this #3 charter was a really good one too. The "Stoned" reference was not getting high on marijuana. In this case, it refers to drinking alcohol and having a good time at a glorious picnic. 3. "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock n Roll Band"- The Moody Blues -I just totally enjoy listening to these guys from their early progressive/mellotron sounding work to their most successful pop-rock albums "Long Distance Voyager" and "The Other Side of Life." Do like The Moody Blues song "NIghts in White Satin?" TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. This song was recorded by an Englishman who's real first name is "Reginald or Reggie for short." This British "piano player" has also been given the nickname "Hercules." He was good friends with "Princess Di" and played his classic song "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral. This "rock" tune is about a little-known dance that is named for a "reptile," not the alligator, but the "other one." -Can you name this piano player and his rock-titled song? 2. His daughter died recently from heart failure, the same disease which caused the man known as "The King's" death. This song was recorded by this artist for a movie he starred in where he was a "prisoner in jail." The singer performs this #1 hit in the movie in an "elaborate dance number" taking place in prison. -Do you know the name of this rock n' roll legend and his song from the movie of the same name? 3. This song is about someone who is totally, completely and utterly in love with a girl. And according to the band it's like the phrase being "Stone in Love." The group had their biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. Some of the band's biggest hits were: "Don't Stop Believin," "Anyway You Want It," and "Open Arms." The band's name is the same as the word for "traveling a long distance" from one place to another or taking a _________________. -Do you know the name of this popular late 70's early 80's band? Let's not "bang you head up against a stone wall" figuring out the answers. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as The Staple Singers would say, "I'll Take You There." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

Great pic, I'd forgotten this one but boy do I love Nights in White Satin, it was my favorite for so many years. I never knew the words to the song you picked, now I'm curious as back then everyone was having issues with Vietnam and how so many of our troops were killed over there .... well at least here cuz of Ft Bliss.

Yeah, Run Through the Jungle definitely was but now I'll have to check the lyrics of Fortunate Son, not sure it referred to any kind of war except that of poor vs rich.

Seems Fortunate Son could be about both more or less, but then many songs out there are about how s/he isn't rich. The only verse I heard that seemed to bring up anything war like was that he wasn't a military son, but hey that coulda meant almost anything.

Thanks for commenting! "Nights and Tuesday Afternoon" are personal favorites, but I relate and enjoy many of their tunes. John Lodge, who wrote " I'm Just a Singer," said it was his response to people turning to rock stars for answers to all the world's problems, which he refers to in this song. As he says in the title, he really had no answer, he was just a musician in a band. Great video btw I believe your favorite band CCR had 2 songs which summed up the Vietnam fiasco; "Run Through the Jungle and "Fortunate Son." Complete Trivia Answers: 1. Elton John- Crockodile Rock 2. Elvis Presley- Jailhouse Rock 3. Journey (weapon song title- Stone in Love) Enjoy:

@RebeccasFarm Yes, he's the King! Although he might be physically challenged some doing the "shake rattle and roll."

Oh, what a great addition OT, thanks The Supremes' biggest hit without Diana Ross; it was a #1 R&B hit. It was also their last US Top 10 hit. Diana had by then moved on to her solo career... Complete Trivia Answers: 1. Elton John- Crockodile Rock 2. Elvis Presley- Jailhouse Rock 3. Journey (weapon song title- Stone in Love) Fun facts: Elvis would have been 80 this year. E's favorite color was black, maybe the reason he dyed his brown hair that color. Enjoy this tune an early "E classic that is etched in stone."

1. Reggie Dwight? After we saw him later alligator it was after awhile, crocodile rock! 2. That truck driver from Tupelo with the pelvis? Fun trivia: when the Blues Brothers did “Jailhouse Rock” at the end of the movie, the prisoner who jumps on the table staring the “riot” is Joe Walsh! 3. Not-so-fun fact: I think Geddy Lee’s voice sounds like a cat being strangled, but I’d rather listen to Rush than Journey. Remember, sticks and stones may break my bones but rock and roll never forgets!

Ha, ha... Some good chuckles there FW. And a trivia lesson too... NICE Appropriate casting of course, with Walsh, Joe's a riot, isn't he? Both Geddy and Steve voice could make you "stone cold sober" after a night of drinking

Nights in White Satin is not one of my favorites. Saw the 5th Dimension at Leo's Casino. We were in the front row; and they gave me the mic to sing along. I was so embarrassed because I have a terrible voice. 1. Crocodile Rock - Elton John 2. Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley 3. Journey

Well, that's a fun story! And then you would have to remember the words to the song, yikes! You hit 3 birds with one stone, lol. Fun facts: Elvis would have been 80 this year. E's favorite color was black, maybe the reason he dyed his brown hair that color. Enjoy the memory:
